AfterElton Briefs: The Gayest Albums Ever Made, The Must-Have Calendar of 2010, and more!
He'll be your guy for all seasons ... all the year through
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear. Yes, we're serious.
- Yes, I did actually paraphrase some lyrics from Grease 2 in the above caption. That always happens when I get excited, and the fact that our favorite Rugger/gay ally Ben Cohen has released a 2010 calendar makes me very excited indeed! If you really want to know what I want in a guy...Well, I'm lookin' for a dream on a mean machine with hell in his eyes!
- This is just so bewildering and infuriating I don't know what to make of it. In the wake of the Uganda bill, the BBC is defending allowing an online debate centered on the question "should homosexuals face execution?" Excuse me? DEBATE? They want people to debate this? I have a challenge for them. Replace the word "homosexual" with any other minority and see what happens.
- David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" has been named by Out Magazine as the gayest album of all time. The list also includes albums from Cyndi Lauper and The Smiths, but doesn't include Pia Zadora'a album "Rock it Out", so it's meaningless.
Reproduction! Put your pollen tube to work! Reproduction! Make my stamen go berserk!
- In "murder-music" news, Beenie Man has learned a hard lesson about the power of Faceplace, and Buju Banton will will face his drug charges in Tampa instead of Miami. Because that's how the gay mafia wants it.

- Above you can see Rachel Maddow continuing her in-depth coverage of the Uganda situation (BTW, the death penalty provision has not been taken out) as she tries to get some members of the awesomely creepy "The Family" on the record.
- The Autry Museum in Los Angeles is presenting a special exhibition called "Out West" which focuses on the gay and trans history of the old west.
- Finally, if you were thinking of seeing Avatar, here's one person who doesn't think you should because it "may alienate bi-sexual, gay and transgender film-goers and may in fact, have a pro-heterosexual message or theme". I think I'll just step away backwards slowly.
