Kathy Griffin at the 2009 Creative Arts Emmy Awards
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Kathy Griffin hosted the 2009 Creative Arts Emmy Awards (aka "The Schmemmys") last night, and unfortunately left empty-handed (hopefully there was a great giftbag though). My Life on the D-List, which won the Emmy the last two years, lost Outstanding Reality Program to Intervention, and her Bravo special She'll Cut a Bitch lost Outstanding Variety Special to The Kennedy Center Honors. You can see Kathy host The Schmemmys on E! Network Friday, September 18, at 1:00PM EST.
- Out director/choreographer Adam Shankman has been made a permanent judge on So You Think You Can Dance? alongside Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe.
- Oscar winner Nicole Kidman is set to star as Danish painter Einar Wegener, who in 1930 was one of the first people to undergo gender reassignment surgery.
George Takei and Brad Altman may soon win a brand new ... washer & dryer?
- George Takei and husband Brad Altman will make TV history when they become the first same-sex couple to appear on The Newlywed Game. They'll appear in a special celebrity edition when the show returns for its new season on GSN October 12. It's a wonderful thing, but the real thrill will be when a non-celebrity same-sex couple is booked on the show (but considering the show is sponsored by E-Harmony, I'm not holding my breath).
- Gay reporter sprite Michael Ausiello has a huge spoiler possibility for next season's True Blood. If Alan Ball goes through with it (which he's contemplating) it will completely redefine the show.
- * NOTE - The log-in box for members has been relocated. It was previously located on the middle left-hand side of the page, and can now be seen at the top right-hand corner.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
This guy!
"Years later, John Darling still remembered how to fly...
...growing up, however, had brought some unexpected pleasures and advantages."
I have to say...
Is Nygel Lythgoe patronizing the gay community?

I didn't buy Nigel's little bit about the same sex couple at all. Mia I bought. She seemed really moved, and she strikes me as someone who would embrace something like same sex ballroom. Nigel seemed to be covering his ass because he got so much flack for what he said last season. Mary seemed kind of fake to me as well, but I can't really tell because her face seems to be frozen in some quasi-confussed state. Lay off the botox sweetie!
It'll be nice to see Adam up there every week. He's a good judge. I actually kind of wish it was Mia though. I don't know... she's grown on me over the years. But if she was a judge then she couldn't choreograph, so...
