Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
Writer Lynn Flewelling has announced that her gay-inclusiveNightrunner series will finally be making it to the big (or perhaps small) screen. (t/y to AE reader Eileen for the tip).
Chelsea's dads: Above you can see the vid that's tearing across the internets. "I'm the proud 16 year old daughter of same sex parents. Because of twisted laws my parents couldn't get married until last October after 26 years of being together. I hope to be able to change some peoples ideas about same sex marriage because of my unique point of view. This is my speech from my parents wedding." If only the right people could see this.
Finally, in sad news, Mary Travers of the iconic folk activist trio Peter, Paul, and Mary has passed away at the age of seventy-two.
OMG! This is fantastic news! I so want to see Seregil and Alec live on-screen. Wonder if they'll do it like a LOTR-To Catch a Thief type film with obvious gay overtones. Wouldn't mind seeing Ioan Gruffudd or John Barrowman as Seregil and maybe Gareth David-Lloyd or Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet as Alec.
It would be absolutely awesome for the Nightrunner novels to be turned into movies or TV! The first three are hands down (IMHO) the very finest gay-inclusive fantasy novels ever written. Lynn Flewelling is a fabulously talented writer and the stories are so descriptively written that they a joy to read.
I don't know that I could see Ioan Gruffudd or John Barrowman as Seregil though as PaperMoon suggests. Seregil's relative age (disallowing certain factors) is only around 20 or so after all. Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet would make an awesome Alec however.
And I'll join right in for the excitement over the possibility of a Nightrunner series/film. It's far too early to say whether the script-in-progress will actually be filmed, but I'll remain optimistic...
I'm like a superhero, with no powers or motivation...
I think I may have just peed a little. The only thing that would make me happier is if my own books were being made into movies. LOL I agree that this series is some of the best gay-inclusive fantasy ever written. I definitely think Barrowman would be awful as Seregil though. Besides being way too old, he's also not slight enough. Seregil is a pretty small guy, and young in appearance. And i couldn't take the hammy acting. LOL I hope they cast relative unknowns actually. How exciting!
So, uh... I managed to hold it together fine through the whole video, but then the second it ended I sort of maybe... violently burst into tears.
There are no words for how moving it is to see same sex couples' children being affected by bigotry and growing up into strong, loving individuals. So beautiful.
What a lovely family.Charming dads & beautiful and lovely daughter.I burst into tears when i watch the video till the end.
There is no different between gay parents and straight parents.this is depending how they raise and teach their children.(i have a gay relative and she and her partner have a twenty yr old daughter .and i happy too see that they live happier .)
The only thing I loved even more than Chelsea and her beautiful speech was...that SMOKIN' HOT FUSCHIA DRESS!!! :)
Those pics of Francisco bring to mind an old Electric Company number with the Short Circuits--something about wanting to "jump into a bowl of Chile..." (Actually, it was chili, but I'm making a satirical point.)
Lucky Chile....
