"Clara Sheller" Season 2 video clip update: Shrunken heads

Crazy Clara is back on the psychiatrist's couch, but have her lies and self-delusion driven someone else to seek therapy? "I know that sounds selfish, sweetie, but it's Me! Me! Me!"

We also get — oh joy — an awkward dinner with Clara's family. Is their last name La Walker?

Some random thoughts about this clip:

1. Clara is reaching all new levels of self-involvement. If Bravo ever does The Real Housewives of Paris, she's a prime candidate.

2. I'm glad we see what happened when Clara came home from the perspective of Gilles and J.P., but the whole "jacket" conversation was obviously just Gilles' excuse to take out his guilt on J.P.

3. Were those king-size condoms Gilles pulled out of the box? Just asking.

While the clip could have used a lot more J.P., hopefully these therapy sessions will help Gilles work through his feelings about Clara and J.P.

It's interesting to contrast this storyline with the Hollyoaks triangle story. Both shows have taken that chestnut and added complicated sexualities and emotions to create something different, to varying degrees of success.

Hollyoaks is aimed at a younger audience, and there are times when the story seems a bit cartoonish, but Clara Sheller has taken a much more mature approach to its storytelling. The characters in this show seem more "real" somehow (even with their eccentricities and flaws), and there seems to be so much more at stake here.

Thanks to ZTube 31 for the translations, and stay tuned for more updates!

    European TV

This is what I love about European TV ... it actually treats it's viewers as adults and not delicate kiddies that have to be guarded and saved. Will this country ever grow up?

    Great show

Clara is a ditzy self-involved twit but the rest of the cast and the situations of JP and Gilles are interesting and well acted. Gilles storyline really is interesting and how he is trying to figure out what he wants and being somewhat open about his emotions if not his double teaming.

    Gilles

Europeans are better able to intellectually grasp the idea of bisexuality than Americans. In the U.S. most audiences would just assume that Gilles is gay and that's why he has problems in his relationship with Clara.

After all, not only has he had sex with JP, he was the bottom!

Voluntarily taking the passive role is something most straight men in America just assume no other straight man would ever do. Actually, the same goes for most straight women, who would be frantically dialing the nearest gay friend to ask if their bf was gay should they discover such a thing occured.

Unless of course the nearest gay friend was the one that did the deed, although they might ask anyway since he would then obviously have firsthand knowledge.

This is kind of like Will & Grace, only French, and serious. Clara seems so self-involved though.  Is the audience supposed to like her?

    Straight

Funny you should mention the bottom issues. If you check out the French Clara Sheller forums, several people suggest that most 'straight' men are bottoms.

    There's more to Clara....

Clara is self involved and really hasn't moved on since we saw her three years ago in series 1. Remember at the beginning of the current series Gilles was hoping that she would settle down and make a commitment but alas it was not forthcoming.

Still one shouldn't rush to judge her just on the segments of episodes Ztube31 is providing. They concentrate on JP and Gilles so we are getting a somewhat distorted impression of her. She still has her friends and family and their interactions are interesting. Her transformation really doesn't begin until the end of the series (obviously with an eye to series 3 if there is going to be one).

Snicks, re the possible size of the condoms, have a look at how big his hands are.
