"Clara Sheller" video clip #10: French Twist

We haven't had a Clara Sheller update since September (our translator ZTube31 was offline for a while) but before the new season starts, let's take a look at the shocking plot twist this French dramedy delivered near the end of the first season. Join us after the break!

The last time we barged in on the Parisian flat of bff's Clara and the out J.P., the hunky neighbor Gilles had surprised J.P. (and us) with some hot and heavy snogging.

In this clip Clara and Gilles grow closer, which leads to J.P. finding the two of them in an clinch, which leads to ... well, something I certainly wasn't expecting.

What it is we'll leave to you, but it's something you'd certainly rarely see on prime time American TV. As my dad used to say whenever he saw something unusual on TV "this must be ... European".

Thanks again to ZTube31 for the translations.

    Clara Sheller 2nd season..

It HAS started - on a French Belgian channel RTBF (La Une) on Saturday. They aired the two first episodes and a French France channel TF1 will show them too tomorrow.

I do regret the actors of Clara (Mélanie Doutey) and Gilles (Thierry Neuvic - hot hot hot) of the first season, but the actor playing JP is such an improvement!! I know I'm being shallow with this, but Frédéric Diefenthal (JP in the first season) bugged me through all episodes of the first season, with his un-attractiveness. It's not so much his face, but the horrible long hair - hated it! I think it would have bugged me too, if Eric McCormack had kept his long hair all the way through eight seasons of Will&Grace, but luckily it got shorter and shorter with every season.

Possible spoilers ahead - in both first episodes of season 2 they do hint towards the fact that JP is still attracted to Gilles (and the other way round too, possibly), so I am looking forward to whatever scene that might result in.

    Missed it !

I'm so not used to watch Tv anymore (especially french TV) that I totally missed the first episodes and we have to pay to watch it on the France 2 website so I guess I'll have to tune in wednesday (it's on wednesday right ?) to see it... well I'll set my DVR cause I'll probably just forget again.

Oh the other day I was pleasantly surprised to see Nicolas Gob (Kévin in Les Bleus) in Merci les enfants vont bien. I loved him ever since I saw the fabulous Sa Raison d'Etre.

The same happened to me Novinous! I used to watch TV a lot, now not so much (even though I buy the Télémoustique religiously every week, but I rarely look inside anymore) and like you I missed the first episode (3rd of six) on Saturday. I saw the last 1,5 minutes, but good thing is we'll be able to catch it on Wednesday! The fourth episode made up for missing the 3rd one though and I am really getting to like all three main actors! I regret the departure of Thierry Neuvic (as Gilles) and Mélanie Doutey, but Zoé Félix and François Vincentelli are good and Patrick Mille is definitely an improvement (in my opinion at least!).

A propos Sa Raison d'Etre - I think it's on DVD now, but they will air it again on December 1st  (World AIDS day) I heard somewhere.

I am not the biggest fan of Nicolas Gob, but he's good at what he does. However many gay-related films he's been in, it seems he still has an issue with the whole subject though (if you read some of his interviews - if they are correctly transcribed, that is). If you watch the 15 minute making of of the 2nd Clara Sheller season, you will hear what Patrick Mille has to say about playing gay and he seems so much more relaxed about it all! It's somewhere on the site provided by The Cole (above in this thread) http://programmes.france2.fr/clara-sheller/index.php?action=makingof (starting at about 6;20)

What Patrick Mille says about his role..

If you watch the making of I mention above, you will hear Patrick Mille (as JP in Clara Sheller second season) say this, about his role [from 7:30 to 8:05] - possible spoilers!:

    Quote:
"I make a lot of love with boys in this film, a lot of different boys. I think about women in these scenes. No! When I make love to Gilles, when I make love to Pascal, when I make love to Brad [he by mistake said Collin, meaning Edouard Collin, real life name of the actor who plays Brad the go-go boy], I make love to them! Because you don’t kiss a man the way you kiss a woman, because you don’t make love to a man the way you make love to a woman, even though there is always a lot of love [not sure why he says that last bit, it’s quite evident..]. What I wanted to show in these sexual and carnal scenes, and they are very important and will be quite amazing for television, finally!, is that it’s just as beautiful."

The next making of will be available on November 28. BTW I like the use of ‘Empty Space’ by Air Traffic in one of the scenes of episode 4. Beautiful.
