Dustin Lance Black helps bring "Pedro" to the big screen

Pedro Zamora, Alex Loynaz
The inspiring and heartbreaking life of Pedro Zamora has made it to the big screen in a new bio-pic, with help from a few out Hollywood big-wigs.
Pedro (who's certain to rank high on our Favorite Gay Reality Stars poll, which closes tomorrow!) learned he was HIV-Positive at age seventeen, and spent the rest of his life trying to educate young people about the disease. His appearance on MTV's The Real World: San Francisco in 1994 was groundbreaking, and when he died the day after the final episode aired, it was a shock to all of us who had become enamored of his sweet smile and gentle personality.
Pedro stars newcomer Alex Loynaz in the title role, and focuses on his Cuban family, his relationship with partner Sean, and his close friendship with Real World housemates Judd and Pam.
Up-n-comer Nick Oceano directed the film, which is exec-produced by Paris Barclay (In Treatment), and produced by Quinceanera guys Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland. And with a screenplay by Milk scribe Dustin Lance Black, it's obvious a lot of talent has been involved in getting this important story to the screen.
You can go to the official website for more info, and as soon as we get hold of a trailer, we'll give you a first look.
BTW, the only gripe I have so far is that the actor they chose to play nose-picking, hygiene-challenged Real World housemate Puck is way too attractive.
