Exclusive pics from the upcoming remake of "Fame"

Kevin (Paul McGill) learns how to fly ... high! in Fame

Above you can see the gay character of Kevin (played by Paul McGill) jumping into a high split during a Halloween dance scene in the upcoming Fame remake.

His limberness aside, it'll be interesting to see how this generation's version of Fame portrays its gay character compared with the original, which came out almost thirty years ago.

Almost ... thirty ... years ... ago.

Anyway, the first Fame gay, Montgomery (Paul McCrane) was a tortured soul who eventually found friendship and inner peace. Hopefully Kevin will have an easier time.

Jeremy Hudson with Kherington Payne

Kevin won't be the only gay element to the new film, however. Above you can see Jeremy Hudson dancing with Alice (played by Kherington Payne - formerly of So You Think You Can Dance). Jeremy is not one of the ten main characters, but he is the lead male dancer, is in all of the main dance scenes and while his sexuality is not discussed on film he is openly gay in real life.

I have to admit to being very skeptical of this remake when it was first announced (as I am every time one of my 80's treasures is violated), but now I have high hopes for this re-imagining, thanks to the good buzz and interesting cast. What do you think? Will you be there when the Fame bell rings on September 25th?
