"Forbidden Love" video clip update: The gang's all here!
Christian and Olli are back and mingling in the lives of their loved ones. But will have they time for each other in between dealing with Gregor's whirlybird obsession and Countess Carla and her hot lesbian friends? Some random thoughts about this clip: 1. Even if Ollian is just playing support system, it's still nice to see them again. Seriously, I could watch them just reading the Sunday paper on the couch for an hour, and be entertained. 2. Gregor was working those tight, oily coveralls! 3. Carla and her lady friends are smokin, but I have a feeling that Stella could snap me in two if I look at her the wrong way. 4. I miss seeing the apartment. When will we have another classic Ollian bathroom scene? While I'm happy to see the guys doing, well, anything, I'm nervous about what the new writers will have in store for them when they finally have another story. Does anyone else feel the same trepidation I do? Thanks to Nanna for the translations! Submitted by on Thu, 2009-02-12 12:43. |

aaawwww
1. Agree. However felt it was a bit of a tease to have them going up to the apartment to "chill" and not show us anything! Grrrrr. Did like the kiss and Christian putting his arm around Olli.
2. I'm more of an Olli man myself, but yeah, Gregor looked good today.
3. After which she would snap me in two without breaking a sweat.
4. Agree (see #1). What is everything going to take place off scene and only be referred to or implied ? Is FL/VL now taking lessons from ATWT ?!
Nervous about the new writers too, but as others with better knowledge of German soaps have mentioned, I imagine the gay boys will take a bit of backseat to the lesbian storyline. While worried, I get too much of a warm happy feeling seeing Ollian to be be too upset just yet.
Can anything good come from a plan to set up Gregor that involves Judith ? What the heck was Christian up to in the background at 1:30, flailing that towel about while Carla and Lady Friend were talking ? No Limits infested with bugs ? Just how long is exam season / term at a German University if Christian is already has exams again ? Evil thought of the day. Gregor will get his helicopter back up in the air, only to have it crash and kill his lady friend in typical soap fashion.
Can't speak for Germany or
Can't speak for Germany or sport students, but from my studies I'm used to this
(1) Lectures offer exams three times a semester. The main opportunity to take the test is at the end of the semester (June and January), but if you miss it or don't want to have too many exams in the same months you can also take them at the beginning of the semester (October and March) and the middle of the semester (December and April/May).
(2) Practical courses might force you to hand in work regularly and/or force you to do any number of tests (usually 2) at random points in the semester.
Christian's exams actually make a lot of sense under (1) if he was doing some exams in the middle of the winter semester and is now doing some at the end.
I love those guys...
I'm glad to see Christian & Olli again, even though they aren't the center of attention. I did notice that the camera pans across the women in the foreground exactly at the moment the guys are kissing. I guess the director was trying to be artsy, but I found it to be annoying. I don't need a couple of lesbians blocking the view of two hot guys kissing... thank you very much.
After reading online about the upcoming episodes, I was disappointing that there won't be any stories focusing on both of them. I suppose the fact that they're still a couple is a good thing. I know happy couples don't stay together very long on soap operas.
I've always wondered why the Olli character is bisexual. Was he involved with a woman when he was on the show five years ago; or did they do that to create the complicated Christian/Olli/Coco triangle?
Olli was bi before he got
Olli was bi before he got together with Tom back in '00. Tom was his first real m/m relationship. Tom didn't believe at first that he liked guys, and thought Olli was trying to use him as an experiment.
Plus Olli cheated on Tom with a girl. A one-night stand the same night after Tom cheated on Olii with Ulli.
And nobody knows what happened those 5 years on that ship. Odds are he was equal-opportunity, but favoring the boys.
Actually the women in the
Actually the women in the shot weren't lesbians. Those were Charlie and Elisabeth. Actually Ollian interrupted the Charlie and Elisabeth scene. On the show, after Ollian are gone Elisabeth tells Charlie about the arrival of baron Eduard. Then Adrian walks in and Elisabeth approaches him and begs him to help Carla. So the scene was primarly about those characters and technically Ollian was interrupting/background flimflam.
As for Olli being bi, yes, he was bi when he arrived 5 years ago. He was very vocal about being bi, which pissed off his gay boyfriend Tom a lot. He had a girlfriend named Daniela before he met Tom. (Tom was very sad because he had been flirting with Olli and then Olli went over and kissed his girlfriend hello). Even after Tom and Olli became a couple Olli frequently flirted with women, much to Tom's chagrin. When Tom cheated on Olli with his exboyfriend, Olli cheated on him with a woman named Jule.
The show implied that while Olli was on the ship he at the very least slept with blonde bimbo Kitty Kübler.
(but Olli always liked the guys too, after Tom Olli had the hots for a guy named Lukas, then there is Timo and the guy Olli flirted with at Schneiders; Plus, several of his ship stories seem to be about men)
Lolaruns said it better
Lolaruns said it better than me. :)
I don't think that they
I don't think that they could have removed the bisexuality from Olli's character because it was just a huge part of him when he joined the show. It was sort of the "thing" of the character and caused most of the initial conflict between him and Tom (that gay man Tom had prejudices against bi people) and Jo Weil gave many interviews to the gay press back then about how bisexuality was an equal choice and not just a stop on the way to being gay or straight. I think it also defined Olli as being more of a "free spirit" than Tom because he was open to the concept of bisexuality while Tom wasn't.
I actually don't think that Tom was Olli's first m/m relationship even though it was his first m/m relationship on screen. I think that much can be gleamed from the storyline back then with Tom which indicated that Olli moved to Düsseldorf because he had a fallout with his mother because of his "bi delusions" (her words). So his interest in guys was definitely supposed to predate Tom.
That said, Olli seemed to develop spontaneous amnesia in regards to bisexuality all the time as well. Or rather, he never stopped defining himself as bi, but he always seemed to have a hard time grasping that other people could be bisexual too (like when Lukas was flirting with both Olli and his aunt Charlie, Olli insisted that that couldn't be because Lukas had to be gay, again, forgetting the option of bisexuality; same for him never suggesting bisexuality as an option when Christian defines himself; seems like Olli can be quite the bi snob at times ;)).
danke :o)
Particularly since both
Yay!
I like that the show has them interact with the other characters with the "A" stories of the moment at one of the show's main hubs (NoLimits/Schneiders). Not too worried about the new writers.
Olli's role is going to increase soon enough (spoilers), but there's a few big stories that will crash together at the Masked Ball next week. Gregor/Princess, Sebasitan/Lydia/Jens/Olivia, Elizabeth/Ansgar/Tanja/Adrian, and Carla/Stella/and ???. Then Sarah has a story move to the front burner.
Patience. There's been a LOT of gay on the show so far this year with Olli/Christian & Stella/Carla/the random lesbian Ilke/and ???.
The Gregor/Princess story is a lot of fun.
When is LOGO going to buy the US broadcast rights for this show???
so much going on
There is so much going on on VL right now. I love it. I especially love the Gregor/Princess storyline. There is nothing better than some fairytale romance. And I am glad Carla finally has a love life again. And that storyline with Jens, Sebastian and Lydia is just downright creepy. It is all very soapy at the moment.
Of course it is a bit sad that the guys are not the center of attention at the moment, but I think you can see that the writers are committed to them by giving us this little bits and pieces and involving them a lot in the other characters' lives. I especially enjoy the banter between Christian and Gregor. But I am not sure if I can get used to Gregor's new haircut;)
German V-Day
All I can say is I just realized they may not celebrate Valentine's Day in Germany and I had a little cry. I was hoping the trip upstairs was just a teaser for a full fledged romantic Valentine's Day-Ollian-get-together-in-the-bedroom that we would actually get to see!
I really love Ollian. There
I really love Ollian. There is such a natural feel to this TV relationship. Just the way Christian comes to pick Olli up from work, gives him a sweet little kiss, puts his arm around him and they leave. It's simple but feels real and loving. It amazing how Jo and Thore can turn a simple scene like this which lasts just seconds into something so charming.
I agree that the writers are actually being quite generous with keeping Ollian in the framework. This clip wasn't even about them but the two women talking. The director broke the conversation up to show the meet and greet of Ollian. And Ollian are being kept involved with the other stories. Of course I would love to have another major Ollian storyine, but we have to wait a little while the other actors have their stories unfold. Carla, who is at the center of the present lesbian story was put on hold for a very long time, well over a year while the Olli and Christian story unfolded. So it is past due for this actress to get her major story up and running.
Thore and Jo
Psionycx...that's what
Psionycx...that's what makes them standout so much from many of the other gay characters on TV...they just don't feel forced or false, but like an authentic couple.
Jo and Thore are just doing an amazing job of selling every scene they are in as a couple who care deeply about each other.

Ivan posted a non-subbed vid today with C&O at NoLimits. Background stuff, yes, but some really sweet and funny actor-business with bar flowers.

Happy V-Day to our favorite fictional German gays. :)
Agreed
I am with you! I could watch the boys do anything and am anxiously awaiting the next beloved bathroom scene.
While I am not a huge Gregor fan, him in those overalls makes my heart beat faster...
I think you have it right with Stella and for some reason, I think I have a 'lil crush on her myself!
