"Forbidden Love" video clip update: False alarms
Today's Forbidden Love clip is another brief encounter with Olli and Christian, but allows our bloodthirst to abate ever so slowly. It looks like Lydia changed her mind about moving to Australia, because she suddenly pops into the bar and says "I've changed my mind". I certainly hope she's going to return those wonderful "1001 ways to die in Australia" books her friends gave her as going away gifts. Back home, Christian is preparing dinner using an industrial sized can of pesto (where does he shop, prison outlets?), and he, Olli, and Judith sit down to enjoy a leisurely dinner. Ho, Ho, Ho ... Ho.
That's about it for this clip, but there a couple of things I want to bring up. First are the little character touches that might go unnoticed, but deserve mentioning, like when Olli pushes some spaghetti onto Christian's plate, and the affectionate looks between the two of them. Those kinds of things usually aren't scripted, so those are actor's choices, and these two guys deserve all of the praise they've received for creating such a natural, realistic rapport. At the very beginning of the clip, there's a brief discussion of Axel and the fact that he'll stand trial. Reading the comments about yesterday's clip (where I wondered why Christian wasn't seeking immediate physical revenge), some of you brought up that maybe we're too quick to jump on the Charles Bronson bandwagon, and we should just let the show take its time in telling the story. You're right, but in our (and by "our" I mean "my") defense, when you're used to a soap opera like As The World turns, which has been known to start a dramatic storyline on Monday, and finish it Tuesday, it's difficult to comprehend that a show might want to actually ... involve us for a while (and by "involve", I don't mean "string along", like with a certain Oakdale gay couple.) So, we probably need to sit back, and give TPTB the benefit of the doubt that they'll come up with something special. You can see today's clip after the break, and thanks again to Nanna and the Gays of Daytime for the translations. Submitted by on Fri, 2008-08-08 15:06. |

I was informed...
...by an attention-paying TGoDT reader that the giant can holds both the pasta AND the pesto - probably the reason Olli and Judith just kinda shovel it around on their plates and Ollian is trying to get rid of it.
And the way Christian eats pasta should have Olli take notice that no romantic dinner is ever to take place at an Italian place.
Nothing exciting here, but those little gestures between Olli and Christian definitely made it worthwhile!

The Gays Of Daytime
Bloodthirst will have to wait a bit longer
Bloodthirst or really any kind of desire for resolution will likely have to wait a bit longer. I just checked the official website and VL will get preempted a lot because of the Olympics. They were preempted today (Friday), will be preempted Monday, Wednesday and likely Friday again next week and who knows what will happen in the week after that :( So even if the next Ollian episode airs two weeks from now, in VL time there will only be about 2 episodes between it. Grrrr.
Alas, at least my edits from a storyline of VL's sister soap that aired last year finally arrived, so I will have something to pass that time. I have to say though, while it isn't necessarily a great romantic love story like Ollian or even Nuke, even Ollian could take some cues about love scenes from Mischa and Sülo (though the old the soap opera truth about how you get the most and the hottest love scenes when somebody is watching them holds again true. And even they have to possess a well practiced look of sexual frustration as their lover keeps being called away by important soap opera business in the middle of the act):
pasta-shifting
Pasta shifting is fun
So, to recap...
So, to recap, Christian served his hag and his boyfriend the basil and olive oil equivalent of Chef Boyardee, which they found marginally edible at best. Olli reconsidered his living arrangements in the face of pasta-in-a-can but Christian nipped it in the bud. Olli retaliated by forcing Christian to eat the rest of the pre-prepared pasta of pain.
And yes, Thore and Jo have all the little couple mannerisms down to a science now. Christian and Olli come across as amazingly convincing.
