"Forbidden Love" video clip update: Olli's got the blues

Today's Forbidden Love is all about Olli and Christian, and the fact that they haven't had sex in a while, which is frustrating poor Olli. It seems Christian is nervous about the big fight, and doesn't want to expend any vital energy, and that's how ... soccer players do it, or something. He explains it with this howler:

"Listen, I have to keep my testosterone level high, so that I've got the necessary killer instinct"

Well, at least he didn't say "Grandma Emma doesn't allow it at the farm."

He instructs Olli to take a cold shower until the normal color returns, but when Christian comes back from the gym, he's even more nervous about the fight, and lashes out at Olli and his evil plan to serve sushi (because it would mean certain defeat in the ring).

Well, at least SOMEONE will.

Olli brushes the gruffness aside, and asks Christian if he wants to relax by watching some DVD's, like Bambi. (I have to admit, I kept replaying that moment over and over. Hearing Olli say "Bambi" is one of the cutest things I've ever heard.)

Christian is all like, "DVD's? Do you WANT me to lose the fight? Don't you know that watching DVD's robs you of your mojo ... and kills baby kittens, too!"

Olli vents his frustrations to Gregor, and then goes to to spend the night at his aunt Charlie's. Gregor meets up with Christian, and explains how frustrated Olli is, and Christian decides to apologize to his boyfriend, but...

Hot, sweaty, and pit-shaved. Now I'm "blue"...

What happens next shocks Christian, but what happens in the previews made me gasp. I just hope it's real, and not a "fantasy sequence".

What i love about this episode is that it shows once again how naturally this relationship is treated. If you compare the reasons why "Ollian" and "Nuke" are not having sex, at least this reason is plausible and, judging from the previews, leading to something truly spectacular.

    Notice that the problem here is that they haven't had sex recently?

    This is in contrast to Nuke, who haven't had sex at all!

    I think about poor Luke, who's been going out with Noah longer than Olli's been with Christian, and who still hasn't gotten any!  Olli should be counting his blessings, even if Christian is crazy.  Must be one of those no-carb diets.  I tried that once and I was borderline psychotic.  Another few days and I would have slaughtered everyone on my street.  That would explain Christian's weirdness.

    Still, it has to be a rough adaptation to be part of a gay soap couple where you have sex with your boyfriend often and normally sleep in the same bed with him, only to enter a dry spell and get told to sleep somewhere else for the night.  Olli needs a hotline to Luke so that he can get some perspective on what it's really like tohave a no-touch boyfriend.

    This of course is all dramatic buildup for today's episode, which is quite impressive.

    It also just reminds me of why I can't handle Luke and Noah, and for that matter, American television regarding sex anymore. You can see how differently they view sex than we do. Its not that having it is so much about just hooking up (although it can be) but in the context of relationships it seems more natural. There are flaws. They still have the issue of build up in the writing that all soaps do. If you back, you can see that Ollie suddenly falls for Christian, and Christian sudden for him. I wish they had spent a littl emore time in the emotional buidl up, but nevertheless it is 10 times more believable than Luke and Noah.

    So they definitely aren't going for high art here.  Naturally the whole notion of any two people just spontaneously falling in love is improbable.  But that's why audiences are so enchanted by the idea.

    But what has made me personally so ga-ga over VL is how they've depicted Christian and Olli as a couple. Their entire behavior around each other (as acted out by Thore and Jo) absolutely screams that they're a couple.  Right down to small gestures and facial expressions.  And while they aren't making out as much as we'd like, we've certainly seen a lot more than we have from Nuke!  VL hasn't been as overt with the sex scenes as was the case with Deniz and Roman over on AWZ (who are in all other respects a tragically tragic soap storyline), but they have definitely been willing to brave things ATWT won't touch with another production company's cameras - actual in-bed sex.

    Beyond that though is just the joy of seeing Ollian acting like they're a real couple, not debating about when they might eventually become one the way that Nuke do.

    Just this past week when Olli and Christian were having their little fight (brought on by Christian's tension about his upcoming fight and bizarre dietary and sexual behaviors to go with it) I was struck by how ironic and funny it was.  Olli complaining that they haven't had sex recently, and Christian telling him to sleep in his own room that night.

    I had to laugh thinking about Luke and Noah, who haven't had sex at all and don't sleep anywhere near each other even on a good night!

    and the sex. Also, as a former runner, I can understand Christian's position. I would hold out for a week before a meet so that I could build my energy just for the task of running. I know that may seem weird, but its something that seem to work for me, and I know other runners did it too. I also hear its done in other sports. I also agree that they act very much like a couple rather than two straight guys playing gay. I like the fact there is no angst around whether they want to be together or not in the story line. Once they hooked up, they were Olian. the only questions have occured outside of them being a couple. On a personal note, this is somethign I am glad to see from a creative angle. Except for Brothers and Sisters (which I am not a big fan of) there aren't many Americn shows that deal with it like this. They don't worry about the naturalness. The thing about Ollian is that you can since they want to touch each other even when not touching. Young couples are like that. I can remember just staring at guys I was dating despite other people bei ng in the room and my not having a conversation with the guy I was dating. So I definitely appreciate the authenticity of emotions.

    Oh this show is just getting better and better isn't it i can't wait for that preview to play out.With the theme of this epi i expected a entire list of jokes referring to nuke but you guys went easy on them.

    I absolutely adore them as a couple they play it so naturaly with the ocational fight.

    Even though i understand that Christian is under alot of stress about the boxingmatch there is no need to be like he is to Olli.I admire Olli even more now because even though he loves his Christian to death he will not be treated that way and Christian will not soon forget it.And how cute is it that Olli can now turn to Gregor to complain about it.

    Was big brother Gregor warning Christian to be careful or he might find himself without a boyfriend.  To me that just says that Gregor knows that Olli is right for Christian and doesn't want to see them on the outs.  After all, Olli was Gregor's main co-conspirator in the plot to advance Christian's boxing career so I can see why Gregor approves of him.

    Hey Brian,

    I'm using Firefox on Windows XP now and it's fine. But when I was at work (my computer has Windows XP and I use Internet Explorer 6 ... or the version before IE 7) it displayed the blog like that. I just checked on my computer now with Internet Exlorer 7 and it still had everything below this article in bold and italics.

    And when I got to the preview almost fell out of my chair.  I hope it's true, too.

    I look forward to these clips every week...They totally make up for what is missing on ATWT.

    just watched todays clips (non subtitled) and the tears are still flowing.. If these two men break up, then I will personally start WW3 with Germany. Ok. not really, but it is clear these two are meant to be together way beyond eternity.

    Excellent episode!! 

    I actually felt sorry for both of them...Olli for not getting any type of loving from Christian. He then tried to sweet up Christian only to be blindsided by him and ignored even more, so he ran to Gregor so hurt and angry he was talking and drinking as though he were in a marathon. And of course his final stop was to Charlie's where he drowned his sorrows with some total stranger.

    Christian got a well deserved wake up call from his brother and tried to make amends only to find Olli drinking and having a good time with some other bloke. Then the look of sadness on Christian's face was heartbreaking, although, the way he treated Olli that day he has only hisself to blame.

    The prieview for today's episode looks amazing. I heard the entire episode is almost all Ollian. I'm waiting anxiously for Nanna's translations. 

    What a great storyline. I'm totally addicted.

    After a long day at work, to be able to relax with such a wonderful two-parter. I can't thank you, Ivan and Tihkon enough for all the time and energy you put into making this terrific storyline available to everyone.

    I even enjoy seeing the discord between our two lovebirds, because we all know what comes after such fights -- great make-up sex! ;-)

    At first I was kind of surprised by Christian's brusqueness with Ollie, but I guess it kind of makes sense. If you go back to when Christian was first getting used to the gay thing, he treated Ollie similarly, but Ollie was so immersed in the first rush of love that he was willing to overlook it. I'm glad he's not putting up with it now! If Christian can't spend time with him, he should definitely go out and enjoy a drink with friends instead of moping at home. (Which is probably the innocent explanation for the scene at the hotel.)

    Christian can be sweet but he has a tendancy to be rough with other people's emotions, especially in the way he speaks to people. At least he does do other things that shows he cares for Ollie, and that's what makes it believable for me that he deserves Ollie. I can't wait for the next installment. Looks like Christian's going to be proving his love some more, and hopefully Ollian's flag will be back to full mast then. :)

    I enjoy the scenes where the brothers give each other love advice because it shows a more positive side of each of them, regardless of how silly they are with their own romances. Gregor's sensitive side is revealed in counselling Christian about Ollie. Christian's fun and less uptight side is expressed when he teases Gregor about Rebecca.

    I just finished watching today's episode about Christian's big fight and it was fantastic! I never really got boxing but things might change from now on, lol.

    And how amazing was the kiss between the boys in the end? It was such a sweet moment!

    That being said, I really HATE Axel! ughh. That preview was really heartbreaking. Poor Olli. I hope Christian kicks Axel's ass for assaulting his boyfriend like this.

    I know from spoilers where the s/l is going - but I really believe that what happens to Olie is not so much due to homophobia but out of Jealousy that Axel has.

    The most recent episode on youtube... PERFECTION.

    I loved the very last scene.... the kiss was amazing and well timed and with the right music. It wasn't preachy or controversial or a statement... just happiness to be together and love. AHHH sooo good. I'll watch that kiss over and over and over again...

    If only I could get that to my ipod.

     

    And I love that I don't even think about that I'm watching it in German and reading subtitles... funny that I got used to all the bittes and dankes. I'll have to ask my roommate for his German textbooks when I get back to school.

    This was a treat. Thank you AfterElton for posting the first video and also BIG thanks to ichglotzutube for giving the other two links to the youtube episodes.

    The fight between Ollie and Christian was so believable that it made me afraid of their relationship but after seeing the preview I was happy.

    The way Christian was so easy with kissing Ollie in front of everyone was just so amazing I almost cried. I can't wait for the following episodes. I saw the preview in the last youtube post and it scares me for what is in store for Ollie. I HATE Axel. He should be carted off to jail and be bunk mates with the ogre that is his manager (wartface).

    Did anyone notice the last name of Christian and Axel. Christian's name Mann which means man (as in the sex of someone) and Axel's name Grossmann which means Big man. Does this mean the writers are trying to say that Christian and Axel were fated to fight each other to see who is the biggest and greatest man. Clearly we can see that Christian is since the preview of Axel shows that he is a spoiled sport.

    Thanks again to everyone who posts this great show. Until I joined AfterElton I wasn't aware of any of these gay story lines in shows from overseas. Perish the thought that I never found out about AfterElton brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

    Watching Olli and Christian fight hurts my soul :( But oh wow, the newest episode was just EPIC. Seriously. I'm kind of flailing with joy every time I think about it ^^
