"Glee", "Grey Gardens", "True Blood" among the gay faves in this year's Golden Globe noms

The nominees for the 67th Golden Globe Awards were just announced with plenty of gay faves and some surprising choices among the highlights.

The big news in the television category is Glee, which racked up the most noms, for Best Comedy Series, Lead Actress Lea Michelle, Lead Actor Mathew Morrison, and Supporting Actress Jane Lynch.

Lea will have some stiff competition for Comedy Actress with Toni Collette, Tina Fey, Edie Falco, and Courteney Cox.

Modern Family also picked up a nom for Best Comedy Series, while True Blood was nominated for Best Drama along with Lead Actress Anna Paquin.

Lead Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries will have Prayers for Bobby star Sigourney Weaver going head-to-head with Grey Garden stars Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange.

Neil Patrick Harris received another nom for Supporting Actor for How I Met Your Mother. Hopefully the GG's can make up for NPH losing the Emmy (Jon Cryer? Seriously?).

No love for Lee Daniels and Tom Ford?

When it comes to films the big news is that the much-hyped A Single Man received noms for Lead Actor Colin Firth and Supporting Actress Julianne Moore, but neither the film itself nor its out director Tom Ford were nominated.

Tom's in good company, though, as another out director, Lee Daniels, was snubbed for best Director while his film Precious received noms for Lead Actress Gabourey Sidibe and Supporting Actress Mo'Nique.

Any nominees surprise or excite you? Disappointed your favorite was snubbed? Do you plan on watching this year's ceremony, which will be held on January 17 at 8PM EST on NBC? Unlike the formal and "important" Oscars, the Golden Globes are the "fun" awards, mostly due to the fact that the booze is freely flowing during the ceremony, and the movie stars get to slum with the lowly TV stars. Good times!
