"Hollyoaks" video clip: A new gay in the village?

When John Paul left Hollyoaks for good, we bemoaned the fact that there was no longer a regularly occurring gay character on the show. But did we speak too soon?

The character of Ravi Roy (Stephen Uppal) has been on the show since May, and in a relationship with a woman named Nancy (who's really overdoing it with the "Luscious Plum" hair coloring). Ravi has some shady friends (he ain't no John Paul!), and after he and Nancy have a tiff, she enlists the aid of the gorgeous Russ (who's been involved with a couple of the McQueen sisters) to help smooth things over.

In the first clip, Russ agrees to help Ravi out on a work project, which leads to ... complications.

The second clip deals with the ramifications, as Russ ponders whether to tell Nancy what happened (Russ can be caddish, but he's basically good at heart).

Ravi comes to see him, and tries to explain what happened. Ravi explains that he's not gay, just a "bit greedy" (in other words, sometimes you feel like a nut ... sometimes you don't). Russ tells him that he has to tell Nancy about his "greediness".

So ... we may have lost a couple of gay characters, but gained a bisexual character (which is a rarity on television). What do you think of this new development? I hope that TPTB are willing to explore this story and character fully, and didn't just use it as shock value (but given this show's well deserved reputation, the latter doesn't seem likely).
