"Hollyoaks" video clip update: Mamma Myra, here I go again!

Today's Hollyoaks opens with John Paul and Kieron having their umpteenth argument about telling Myra about their engagement, and Kieron finally asks J.P. point blank if he even wants to get married.

To prove his intentions, J.P. takes Kieron along with him to see Myra, who is doing housework with Mercedes and Tina (and is it just me, or does Tina remind anyone else of the Lisa Simpson of the McQueen family?).

After the girls leave, J.P. blurts out that he and Kieron are engaged, and Myra makes it clear that he's much too young to even consider it. When J.P. says she's just upset that he stole Kieron from her "precious" church, she gives him a slap across the head. J.P. stomps his feet, and says "we're getting married, and there's nothing you can do about it!", and storms out. The only thing that could make this scene hotter would be if J.P. had overturned a candy dish on his way out.

It takes all kinds of critters to make Myra's fritters

Kieron decides to pay a secret visit to Myra, and she gives a vaguely creepy speech about ... planting things ... and how much better things are when they're planted ... and if you give them the right care, planted things don't disappoint you, and frankly she was starting to give off an Ida from Motel Hell vibe.

Through a glass, smugly

Whatever Kieron said must have worked, because Myra comes over to see the boys, and inexplicably gives her consent. As they celebrate the upcoming nuptials with some champagne, the vein in Niall's forehead looks ready to burst out of his skin.

And when Myra unleashes the corker "It's not like I'm losing a son, I'm gaining another one" and Niall overhears, I was sure he was going to go full Scanners.

Well, even though Myra does have a rather abrupt change of heart, I think what this episode clearly shows is that she's willing to support her children even if she disagrees with what they're doing. She's a cool mom, and this show is good at portraying that.
