"Hollyoaks" video clip update: Square pegged
Today's episode of Hollyoaks has John Paul readying flyers to be passed out promoting The Loft's gay night. J.P. has named the event "Shirt Lofters", which is either totally brilliant, or the stupidest thing I've ever heard (I haven't decided). Kieron offers to help pass out the flyers, which of course gives Niall the perfect opportunity to undermine the former Father's self-worth. As Kieron stands in the town square passing out the flyers, he admits to J.P. that it does feel strange, going from giving out sacraments to giving out rainbow tickets. After some reassurance from J.P., though, he's able to put his insecurities behind him. It doesn't last long, though, as they head to the campus, and Kieron is reminded of his former life when he sees the college chaplain (who I'm not completely positive, but am pretty sure was the lead singer of Cheap Trick). After an unfortunate run in with the scuzzy Ste, Kieron returns home to discover that he's basically the only person in Hollyoaks who hasn't been invited to the naming ceremony of Jacqui's baby (which leads to a scene-closing evil grin from Niall). Like yesterday's show, I love that we're getting a look at Kieron and J.P. outside of the McQueen family drama. Kieron is having a hard time fitting in, and I'm glad that they're not sweeping that reality under the rug. You can see today's clip after the break ... and really, "shirt lofters"? Shirt Lofters is offensive,
Shirt Lofters is offensive, I don't know why the writers picked that name.
That aside, I love seeing John Paul and Kieron together, it's a shame that they will be off screen for another three weeks, and then the whole SL will be over three weeks after the hiatus. Hopefully, it plays out better than it reads on paper.
can you explain it to me?
'Shirt lifter' is slang for
A-HA! thank you!
???
I'm assuming Shirt Lofters is a play on Shirt Lifters? But as an American I have to say, I have no idea what Shirt Lifters means.
And does HO have enough characters that they can do a daily show for 3 weeks without people wondering where characters went?

HO has over 50 regular characters, along with a half dozen or so recurring characters. With a cast so large and it being only a half hour show, these "black holes", as they are called, are unavoidable. For the most part, the stories are told in such a way that while you miss your favorite characters, there are enough interesting and exciting scenes taking place with other characters that it doesn't ruin the enjoyment of the show for the majority of viewers.
I want a Kieron Hobbs of my very own....
Evil Bastard and I'm referring to Niall. Ugh. He makes me want to slap him silly and say "leave them alone". Barry's nice though.
I want my own Kieron Hobbs. The fact that he stopped what he was doing, in order to help Lauren putting up flyers is one of the things that I love about him.
It is not wrong OR impossible for him to WANT to continue helping people in ways that truly matter (he doesn't have to be a Priest in order to do it) AND still be with John-Paul at the same time.

I want one of my own, too.
I want one of my own, too. Is it just me or is the female of the men loving species much more in love with Kieron than the male one?
I highly suspect that's the reason they kill him off: to prevent all the squeeing nearly middle-aged women (like me) ruining the HO-viewerships avarage age.
They could've kept Kieron as a social-worker and from what I've seen Hollyoaks is in desperate need of one. Wouldn't necessarily make good teenage-drama though ;-)
I don't buy that whole Niall-thing. Kieron has every reason to feel guilty towards Myra but bravely (if a bit awkwardly) stood up to her. Why can Niall make him this insecure with these few words? Am increasingly annoyed with the writers... (I feel a major struggle coming up in my first proper relationship with a soap)
hey dspoilergirl2001 ;) there's just one thing worth mentioning of tomorrows episode, isn't there? And that's how Kieron finally gets punished for the only REAL sin he did over and over again.
Kieron's a glutton for love and food
Lily - There are a lot of male posters/viewers from the Gays of Daytime forum that really like Kieron as well, so it's not just the "middle-aged women" viewers. ;-)
Are you referring to when Kieron burns his finger, because he's, yet again, trying to stuff his face with food?! LOLLOL Yes, he's a bit of a glutton, but he's still fit.

Shirt lofters
Guess I missed the meaning too.
Love JP and Jake's interaction over the last couple of episodes. Sometimes their scenes seem to be from a diffrent show than the others at Hollyoaks.
Hope the writers don't take the easy way out.
What happens to the Keiron
unfortunately, Kieron
there might something
there might something happening to him even before JP leaves :-(
It's officially confirmed that Jake Hendriks (Kieron) will leave HO. (which is a pity but I'm repeating myself... )
If you want to find out what
Spike, please?
I really just want happiness for our boy JP.
Kieron is a grown man who has so much growing up to do. He isn't what JP needs. priests and teenagers...it puts me off.
And Craig? Violent, lying, sour-pussed face troll. I don't understand how people can root for his return. He beat up JP to a pulp in front of their school mates! Is this romance?
How can I wish for him to be with JP who deserves so much better.
Can't the lovely, gorgeous, funny, proud-to-be-gay Spike come back? Those were some of the best kisses seen on British telly.
JP will leave HO with happiness on the horizon...

JP gave as good as he got, if you recall. As this conversation has been had countless times over the past year on many different forums and blogs, I'l refrain from getting into it again. Suffice to say, I'd recommend watching the episodes upon Craig's return before you make your final decision on who you think JP should be with. I think it's entirely possible your view on the character of Craig may be somewhat different at that time.
As for Spike, you may well see him again in HO in the not too distant future... Not before JP leaves, though.
when I read your topic
There is the term...Shirt
There is the term...Shirt Lifters...which refers to gay men who lift shirts instead of skirts, which is what straight men do. It is seen by some as a derogatory term, but not so much by others. What the writers did was take this term and changed it into 'Shirt Lofters' since it is going to be gay night at 'The Loft.'
I'm a female who can't wait to see the back of Kieron. Never liked his character at all. I truely was turned off by the teenager and 29 year old priest relationship. It just came off as very sordid to me.
As for the return of Craig...I can't wait!! The minute Craig steps back onto the scene, it's curtains for Father Kieron. JP never for a moment stopped loving Craig. That Sunset Ending is clearly on the horizon.
