Hollyoaks video clip: The "Confession Time" update
It's been very busy over at Hollyoaks since our last update on Friday. (soap opera, like death, doesn't take a holiday). In the first of our two clips today, John Paul slips into the bathroom to surprise a showering Kieron, but is in for a shock of his own when he pulls back the curtain to reveal Niall (strangely, I saw the same thing last night when Fran walked in on Mr. Sheffield in the shower on The Nanny). Myra calls, and J.P., like any normal teenager, rolls his eyes and feigns exasperation at his mother's meddling. Niall (who would actually be a nice guy if he didn't do so many...evil things) lets it "slip" that Mercedes punched Kieron, knowing full well that Myra would try to get to the bottom of it. When she shows up unexpectedly at Kieron's place, J.P. is forced to hide, and after badgering poor Kieron into accepting an invitation to "chat", tells him, in the understatement of the year "you've sure got your hands full with this family!". see part two after the break
In part 2, Niall tries to convince J.P. to come clean to his mum about him and Kieron, meanwhile Myra is confessing to the young priest that she's at her wit's end with her children...all six of them. Oh wait, hold on...make that seven. She tells Kieron that when she was 14, she gave up her first baby, and as she recounts the story, we see shots of an anguished Niall (could the truth finally about to be revealed?). What's interesting about these clips is that once again, Kieron takes his vows very seriously, to the point of shutting J.P. out when it comes to not revealing anything about Myra's confession. He's still obviously tortured between his love of J.P. and his love of the church, and whether this will eventually come between them again is something I hope is fully explored. Niall
Could someone with more Hollyoaks knowledge tell me how/when Niall figured out Myra is his mother.
I really like the actress playing Myra, you'd never see someone like her on an American soap, but she's so powerful in this scene.
:-P
(so is Niall's myra's son she gave up? ugh, i hate that term. how about "I gave my child a better life than i could offer at the time") - i am at work and am blocked from viewing web videos, so maybe she does say this and i just can't see it...??
If Niall (interesting spelling) is her son, i do gotta say that it wouldn't surprise me. Soap daughters and sons always end up returning to the same town that their parents are at without even knowing they are there. it amuses me just as much as when people constantly "die" and come back years later. hehe :-P
Niall...
Apparently Nial knew about Myra when he came to Hollyoaks, and he came for the specific reason of wreaking vengeance on Myra for trying to give him a better life than a fourteen year old girl could have offered. So far, he's already set up Michaela to look like a drug addict. He injected her with cocaine at a party. That's why she had to take an HIV test a while ago.
As far as I can tell, we don't know how he found out about Myra. A lot of his past is presented as a mystery.
not takings his vows so seriously if you ask me

Well, some of his vows he takes seriously. The one about celibacy not so much, I'd say.
BTW two episodes are missing from this week... Most importantly the one where Kieron gets hit by Mercy for being such hypocrite and where he comes back to tell John Paul that he loves him more than he loves the Church, suggesting that he will leave the Church for him - interestingly the next day - this episode you describe - he is still urging JP to keep the secret. Reminders of Craig, anyone??? JP has officially moved on from the drizzle to the rain. (And the question remains whether he has in fact moved on from Craig - with this character being mentioned in every other episode it does sound like he is coming back)
What is even more telling, in the following episode - yesterday's - they keep the charade going in an atwt-like Casey-Luke-Noah situation where elliot has to play John Paul's boyfriend so Myra won't find out it is Kieron that JP is spending his nights with. Like Casey, Elliot gets tired of playing the gay soon enough but his breakup line is a lot better than Casey's (hilarious) "i quit you Luke". nono, apparently John Paul is "rubbish in bed!". So much for Saint John Paul of the Magic Willy (that turns straight/priesty cardigan-loving men gay)
in other words: check youtube and watch the 22/05 and 26/05 episodes!
Elliot anyone?
That Elliot episode was just brilliant. I'm not sure what this Elliot guy is all about, but that bit where he fake-plays JP's boyfriend and their break-up was just excellent!

LMAO... Elliot's all 'And
Cake...here's a link to that episode on AE

Here is the episode where Father Hottie gets hit...Snicks covered it.
I think it's possible to take his vows serious but be conflicted about certain parts. I'm sure the celibacy thing is ripping him apart on the inside.
Kieron did not actually promise to give up the church
Kieron's specific words were that that he loves John Paul more than he loves the Church. I assume this means he's willing to risk losing his position in the church, but not willing to voluntarily give it up. But yeah, there are shades of Craig, although to a lesser degree. I'd love for John Paul to realize that this pattern in his relationships is partly of his own choosing. I'd love to watch him figure out how to love somebody unconditionally, while still respecting his own needs. It would be a way to show him dealing with the after effects of his relationship and breakup with Craig. I know a lot of Craig fans were upset that after the breakup John Paul didn't seem devastated enough. But, to me, showing the impact Craig has on his future romances is a better way of showing the significance of that relationship to John Paul, than simply showing John Paul looking sad.
On another note, since religion is a topic here, I am curious to hear Kieron talk about God. We know he doesn't completely agree with the catholic church, from what he said to Michaela earlier. But what exactly does he believe? I suppose it's difficult to show that, because there's not a lot of people he could talk to. So far they've done a good job of showing his character through his actions as much as through his words. But I can't help wondering about the inner workings of his mind.
When are John Paul and Kieron On Again?
Newcomer here to Hollyoaks. I must say, I'm liking the story a lot, and as with VL, the JPK story seems light years ahead of a certain couple in Oakdale, IL.
Anyway, from what I've seen of the youtube clips, I can't determine a pattern of when JPK shows up. They were on for quite a bit last week, but from what I've read of spoilers (and I'm not sure which ones are reliable), it doesn't look like JPK will make another appearance for a long time. Is that the ordinary course of screentime and storyline ebbs and flows for the characters in Hollyoaks?
And yes. I loved that part about Elliott and JP's fake breakup, especially the "And you're rubbish in bed" line!
