IMHO "Greek" (2.11): Take Me Home, Cyprus-Rhodes

The second half of the second season of the ABC Family comedy Greek began last night, with gay college student Calvin welcoming childhood friend Andy (pop star Jesse McCartney) and delivering a warning to frat brother Evan.

Everyone is back from summer break, and Calvin has brought high-school buddy Andy with him. Allegedly, Andy was a star football player, and all the fraternities on campus are going to be eager to nab him. I say "allegedly" because Jesse McCartney looks about as believable as a star football player as Adam Sandler in that one movie where ... he was a star football player.

Calvin is still best buds with the perpetually pantsed Rusty, even though they're in rival fraternities. It doesn't last long, though, when Rusty's dislike of constipation-causing processed meats cause him to leave the party house of Kappa Tau and move into an apartment with new roommate Dale, who needed to move after being creeped out by his old roommate, who was "pale, and weird, and speaks english, but obviously isn't from this country." Turns out the guy was ... Canadian. Best.Joke.Of.The.Night.

Calvin's best scene occurs when he half-jokingly tells rich jerk Evan to leave cute nerd Rusty alone, or he'll get his ass kicked.

That scene, and the Canadian joke (and a joke later on with a couple of girls about Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie O'Donnell, and a "split-screen") are enough to give this episode an up arrow, but we'd better see more of Calvin this season if the show wants to maintain that fickle schwing. (Luckily, our prayers will be answered eventually.)

What did you think of the return, and what do you hope to see in the second half of the season?
