IMHO "Make Me A Supermodel" (2.04): Freak-out!

Last night was the fourth episode of the pretty much disastrous second season of Bravo's Make Me A Supermodel.

So how did last gay standing Shawn do, and why am I giving this episode (and the season) a down arrow? Prepare for Spoilers and snark!

Shawn was eliminated. That's about all that needs to be said about this episode, which featured guest Michael Bergin. It came down to Shawn and "I'm new at this, so I get a pass every time" Colin, and guess what, the judges gave Colin yet another chance.

As you can see in his elimination interview, Shawn was not happy with the judges, himself, or modeling in general:

So this ordeal has soured Shawn on modeling, and I don't blame him. It's obvious the show is manipulating the outcome to make sure certain "types" remain, while giving more worthy models the boot.

They obviously want to keep "The Modeling Virgin" (Colin), and "The Bad Boy With A Lot To Learn" (Branden), and "The Sourpuss" (Gabriel).

Oh, just go away

The season got off to a bad start when they decided too eschew the audience participation aspect that made last season so much fun, and it went downhill from there.

Worst of all this season were the additions of the creepy, vampirish Nicole Trunfio (who ... insists ... on ... stretching ... out ... every ... sentence ... beyond ... its ... breaking ... point), and the sour, ridiculous judge Perou, who tries to come off as some kind of bad-ass ... which is tough when you're dressed like Michael Jackson's chimp, Bubbles.

So this season gets a "meh" from me. They need to go back to what made the first season a must-see, namely audience participation (which made each week tense and thrilling), and models with more ... personality. Of the remaining contestants, only Jonathan and Sandhurst really stand out, so hopefully one of those guys will make it to the end.

But I doubt I'll be watching.

What about you? Still a fan of the show? Will you watch to the end, or have you given up?
