IMHO "True Blood" (2.8): Timebomb

This week's episode of True Blood was another action-packed winner, as Hoysicca (or is it Joyt?) try to go all the way, a daring rescue is pulled off, and Jason emerges as ... an action hero?
Look below for the top ten reasons why this episode earns an up arrow!
10. - Poor Hoyt and Jessica. First Hoyt leaves his pants on, then after a painful first time they're caught by Bill, who orders Hoyt to take her back to Bon Temps. Unfortunately, their second time isn't any better, as Jessica discovers that her ...um ....um ... well ... maraschino is intact, meaning because of her vampire healing power, she's doomed to be a virgin every time she makes love. Now that I think about it, last week's musical selection of Bleeding Love was actually a spoiler.
9. - Poor Sam. Not only is he framed for Daphne's murder, the one person coming to his defense is ... Andy. The former cop shows up (still wearing that filthy shirt) and insists that Sam is innocent, having been pursued by "a bull with claaaaaaws ... wearing a dress".

8. - Lafayette is slowly coming out of his dungeon stupor. He only has one scene in this episode, but it's a good one, as he advises Tara that she's going to be unlucky in love yet again.
7. - Maryanne uses Daphne's heart to make a particularly disgusting souffle, which she feeds to Tara and Eggs. It causes them to beat the crap out of each other, as Maryanne looks on gleefully.
6. - Poor Jason's genitals. What is it about this guy's package that puts a bullseye on it? Sarah shoots him with a paint gun, and then for good measure pops him right in his danglies. Last season, it was the V Juice that made Jason Jr. swell up like an eggplant, now he's being shot at? Leave Jason's unit alone!
5. - Speaking of Jason, he had his best episode all season, becoming the hero of the church rescue. He had some great one-liners (one about Reverend Steve and "getting into heaven" that I can't repeat here), and made amends with Bill and the vampires.
4. - We may have seen the end of Lorena for a while (which considering how annoying she is, is probably a good thing), but she did have some intriguing moments (including an interesting scene when she bites telepath Barry and can tell that he's ... different.)

3. - I am so totally in lust with Little Godric. His accent is freakin' adorable, I love that he doesn't have perfect teeth like every other vampire (seriously, I love those two buck teeth in front), and he's so soft-spoken and gentle that I can't wait to see him go beserk. I hope he sticks around ... maybe Merlotte's needs a go-go boy?
2. - The rescue in the church was beautifully played out, with Alexander Skarsgard once again proving his versatility with an absolutely hilarious scene involving Eric pretending to a meek church member. The way he hunched his shoulders and brought out the "aw shucks" accent was priceless. Later on, we actually saw Eric ... smile ... a couple of times, including a great scene with Jason.
1. - The vampire cocktail party was a hoot, with Jason apologizing to everyone (he even hugs Bill, hilariously), Sookie mixing it up with Lorena, Godric laying down the law (to everyone), and in a terrifically tense scene, Eric telling Sookie "the bond between vampire and his maker is stronger than you can imagine ... perhaps one day you'll find out". Oh no he didn't!
Then of course there's the ending, which has Luke enter the party, announce that Steve has something for everyone, and opening up his coat to flash a bomb covered by silver chains, silver bullets, etc. The final shot is Luke pressing the detonate button.
Naturally the first thing I thought of was ... Marcia Cross pressing the detonate button and blowing up Melrose Place, and for some reason the second thing I thought of was Dynasty's Moldavian Massacre.
Now that I think about it, it's kinda hilarious that Luke felt the need to announce to everyone that he was going to blow them all up, thus obviously giving one of them time next week to stop him.
All in all, I think this was one of my favorite episodes. The church stuff seems to be over with which means Sookie and Jason can get back to Bon Temps, and I love Godric and his interaction with everyone.
