"Les Bleus" video update: The "get out your hankies" season finale

Below are the final two clips of the last season of the French cop show Les Bleus, and the drama in them puts American shows to shame. Last we left, rookie cop Kevin (magnificently played by Nicolas Gob) was trying to cope with the assault and subsequent coma of his boyfriend Yann (played by Mathieu Delarive). The first clip picks up as Yann has been unconscious for almost a week, with Kevin still keeping vigil by his bedside. His cop family is as wonderfully supportive as ever, and his mother flies in to be by his side, as well. On an American cop show, they would never delve this deep into a character's pain and anguish. They would be much too concerned with the next action scene to bother having a scene between a gay character and his mother in a hospital room.

The final clip of the season starts with great news: Yann wakes up from his coma! Yann is grateful to Kevin for caring, and, well ... I don't want to spoil what happens next, but I have a few choice words for Yann (but this is a family site, so I'll refrain). Suffice it to say that Kevin finds himself at a crossroads, both personally and professionally. It's this kind of well-rounded character study that we would never see on American TV, and has us gay viewers Stateside flocking to European television for more realistic and developed gay characters.

Even though this show is in another language, and Kevin's story is just a part of what happens, it's already become one of my favorites. Kevin one of the greatest gay characters I've ever seen, and I can't wait to see where the next season takes him.
