"Les Bleus" video update: The "everything changes" edition
So far, we've seen the character of gay cop Kevin (played by Nicolas Gob, who's already made a few top ten lists on the new AfterElton Hot 100) come out to all of his colleagues, endure the trauma of seeing his mother date his boss, and try to maintain a relationship with an aloof boyfriend. His world is about to change forever, though. In the first of today's two clips, Kevin and his other rookie friends are having a party, and may be having a bit too rowdy of a time (please tell me that's not a stocking on Kevin's head). Once again, the sense that these young people are a "family" is evident, as they party and then get into trouble together. He then has a conversation with his two female cop friends, who offer up some very wise advice, and finally meets up with Yann (played by Mathieu Delarive). Things are going well with the two of them ... until tragedy strikes. You can see part two of this life altering event after the break. Many thanks again to ZTube31 for the translations, and be sure to tune in next week for the season finale! In the second part, Kevin starts to come unglued, and it's only with the support of his family of friends that he's able to hold it together. I have to say that Nicolas Gob really shines in these scenes, and he makes what could be a cliched storyline into something real and painful. We'll be bringing the conclusion of season one of this groundbreaking storyline next week, and never fear, we hear season two is in production. Submitted by on Fri, 2008-05-02 15:05. |

This is funny and sad and very well acted!

Love this show, but these
No one said they were.
Thank you, Snicks!
I've watched all the clips, and I really appreciate you sharing them with us and bringing the show to a wider audience. (And, of course, thanks to whomever is responsible for the translations!)

they may not be new to *YOU*...
They're new to me!
They are new to me and when we came
across them, we thought folks frustrated by ATWT as well as the general lack of quality gay characters on US television would enjoy them as well.
I'm especially impressed seeing a show with a gay cop. In the US we're still stuck being the murder victims on cop shows, and bitchy office assistants or gay best friends on most other shows.
I'd normally loathe someone like Yann who seems utterly self-absorbed. When he walked away from Kevin for "not being in the mood", I really couldn't stand him. But since Nicolas Gob so convincingly sees something in him, then I figure there must be something good about him. And I also like the fact that the show is able to have a different variety of gay men.
Finally, the hospital scene is heartbreaking, especially given how cliched this storyline could be. Gob shines here and really pulls me into what he is feeling looking at his lover.
Can't wait for the second season!
This is missing from American television and film
Yep, My Bad. . . .
I forgot, the show is a fairly recent phenom to AE. It's a great storyline, with the gay characters nicely integrated into the show as a whole.
And yes, easing the frustration of US gay sidekicks, victims and serial killers.
Looking forward to the next season as well. Impatently.
Anyhow, Sorry. . .I was wrong and snarky to bring it up. Hope to see more posts on "Les Bleus", and everyone can get caught up on this great drama.
(Perhaps the upside to it is that it gotcha talkin about it)
Nicolas Gob (clip)
"Sa Raison d'Etre"
I posted this before, but there was no reaction. Is it because of what Nicolas Gob said in one of his interviews, or because the clip's quality is bad? Either way, here it is again, for those who may be interested.
Synopsis: the plot is about a male friendship between straight Bruno (Nicolas Gob) and gay Nicolas (Michaël Cohen). They have been friends for ages. The story of both starts in the early 80s (explaining the horrible hairdos) with AIDS emerging and goes on to today. It is a scene from a two-part drama (see subject for title) that was aired on France 2 in April 2008.
Without giving too much away, this is a scene were both are at Nicolas’ parents house (I think) for a short holiday. Nicolas enters the bathroom and is angry with Bruno for not locking the door. Bruno says it shouldn’t be a big deal for Nicolas as they see each other naked weekly after soccer practice. Nicolas has been in love with Bruno forever (or so) but knows that Bruno is off limit. Still, in this scene Bruno lets himself try kissing a guy to in the end have his feeling fortified, that this is not his thing.
I didn’t know the actor Michaël Cohen, but he’s definitely one to watch, imho.
