Liveblogging "As The World Turns": Did Noah lay down the Law?
Noah is back from Hollywood and Luke wants to know two things: How did his meeting go with "Jude Law", and ... why is he hugging Cousin Itt from The Addams Family?
Join us for the fun, and refresh for updates! 2:05PM EST: Luke is waiting for Noah's plane to arrive, but in the meanntime asks Damian if his job is still available, and Damian says "of course, do you want it?". Luke says .... "meh". Noah and Mason are back in Oakdale, reminiscing about the trip they just took, which apparently involved a party in the Hollywood hills (boy, if that scarf could talk). Damian changes his shirt, prompting Luke to say wistfully "my dad had that same shirt". We then immediately cut to Lily on her couch ... wearing Holden's shirt. It would have been so much better if Damian had tried on a Holden-esque thong. How would Lily explain wearing that to her daughter. 2:15PM EST: I am so loving this Holden story. Unshaven, dirty, tied up. It's like they read my mind. Noah and Mason are having an awkward hug when Luke walks by. He says "Noah?", and Noah turns around beaming and says "Luke, I was just coming to find you!" Angry Luke says "I thought you were coming in later", and Noah says "We caught an earlier flight. You won't believe who we met in Hollyw ..." Before he can finish, Luke cuts him off and says "what are you doing here?" 2:25PM EST: Pissy Luke says "I was just on the way to pick you up, and here you are!". He smiles through clenched teeth and says "how was your trip?" Noah says "I met Seth Rogen". That doesn't seem to impress Luke, and Noah can tell he's mad, and so he apologizes for not calling to tell him he was coming in early. 2:30PM EST: In an unitentionally hilarious scene, Lily is down at the river bank with a box? when she sees Holden's shirt coming towards her through the trees. It rounds the corner, and it's Damian. Lily faints. I love Luke. He's so spoiled and self-centered it's always a hoot to watch him. He's like a male Blair from The Facts of Life. He takes a walk with Noah and says sarcastically "um, thanks for not showing up at my dad's funeral!" AAAAGH! 2:35PM EST: Noah laughs in Luke's face (literally) , and says "this isn't about me not showing up, you're jealous of me and Mason". Luke protests and says "you're going out to LA, and hanging out with Sethhhhh, and Juuuude. How am I supposed to compete with that". Noah says sweetly "you don't have to compete with Mason, you've got so much more than he does". They hug, and Mason rides by on his bicycle shouting "get a room!" Noah laughs, but Luke shoots daggers.
2:45PM EST: Okay, so let's take bets on whether Damian and Lily will sleep together before Holden comes back. I think it's a sure thing. Mason stops to chat , and Luke is his usual wonderfully dismissive self, basically smiling and nodding as if to say "yeah, yeah, no one gives what a crap what you have to say". Mason gets the hint and leaves, and Noah says "not the green-eyed monster again!". Luke laughs and says "doesn't he have any other students?" Actually, that's a very sensible question. 2:55PM EST: The guys are laying in the grass and have a very sweet scene where they talk about how much they missed each other. They talk about Holden, and Luke tenderly puts his fingers through Noah's hair. They then walk off holding each other. Nice. Preview Time: No Nuke, but there's a poisoned cupcake! HA HA!!
AHHHHHHAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAAA!!!

Ohhhhh!
OH NO.
BR
I'm sorry but, who hugs their professor?
Honestly?!
Kitty
http://www.saveiantojones.com/
I have before. Granted, it
I have before. Granted, it was one of the professors in my grad program, and it was to say hello, good to see you, will you take a picture of me and Sherman Alexie with my camera please?
So it's not entirely unheard of.
Noah's film
Noah is working on his film for at least a month and we don't even knew the plot (maybe because all storyline is off screen), but it's almost impossible that his film will be worse than this Mason storyline. There's a lot of levels of wrong in this story from the begining.
And i'm almost sure that Mason is a serial killer who strangle his victims with his scarf, at least that will justifie why he is wearing a scarf all the summer
UGH! Get a room!
Funniest thing ever said by a passing bicyclist!!!!

Why was I reminded of "Adam
It was a drive-by razzing!
Okay, I don't mean to picky or be a downer, but...
Was it as painfully obvious to anyone else but me that they didn't kiss the whole episode?!

They don't kiss
is that so?
I don't think so
but the truth is that his latest storylines are far from being romantic, and even more far from being hot. And that's one of my first concerns about all the love triangle (or supposed love triangle). They need to have some romantic and domestic scenes before bring a third, because if some of them will cheat, they need to show some interaction, and that's not beliable if the proper couple don't have some action first
I really hope, that the new writers give them more airtime and a good (or at least better) storyline. The show is trying to improve, and it will be absurd not use their most popular couple
A Kiss is a Kiss
To be fair, they kiss all the time but they don't make out.
They kiss hello, they kiss goodbye, they kiss "Thank you".
Maybe that doesn't count as "kissing" for some because it's not a long romantic kiss but a kiss is still a kiss.
There could always be more kissing but it's not really accurate to say "they don't kiss" or "they never kiss".
if you're watching the episodes (or the clips on Youtube) it's clear that they obviously do kiss (even if they didn't kiss in this episode today)
Don't get me wrong.
I'm all for more romance, more hot scenes, more heavy petting and some sexual situations and lots more kissing.
I just think we should give the devil his due, as it were.
More pecks than proper kisses
Yes they kiss hello and kiss goodbye, but the last proper romantic kiss was months ago.
And the hug a lot, but sometimes his relationship reminds me the one Van and Jake have in real life, you could see two guys that really care for each other, but just friends, not lovers.
The show always want them to not be seeing as a thread, and i could understand that at the begining right now they could be playing other cards. This couple has a lot of fans, and they don't want Nuke being played as if they were roommates.
And having more romantic scenes if not only a way to please the fans, if they are not more passionate than they are right now, the love triangle, the cheat, and all those soapy possible storylines, will never be a possiblity
jude law...seth rogen...
wonder if noah met tara reid as well.
i can tell i missed an awesome show. :-P
I'll have the Fish
You know I tried watching but kept finding myself switching over to OLTL. It is sad when Oliver alone in a room with a computer is more interesting than Nuke scenes.
I kept rewinding to watch the Nuke parts but seriously a whole day in which Luke pouts because Noah did exactly what he was told to do and he saw him hug his forty year old college advisors/professors/auto-erotic asphyxiation enthusiast friend?
How can we invest anything in the "love triangle" that we already know the idea has been squashed.
Not to mention the pure silliness of the "Hollywood Hills House Party" thing - because forty year old college advisors/professors/auto-erotic asphyxiation enthusiast get invited to those things all the time.
HI-larious!!
I don't like that scarf either, but that description had me rollin'!!

LMAO
"auto-erotic asphyxiation enthusiast"
^ ah, thats a damn funny way of putting it.
you are pretty awesome :-)
We could have used a Daytime Drive-by today....
Phillip was back on Y&R and although it wasn't gay-per-se we have posted on more stuff that wasn't.
Plus OLTL was really gay - but ironically with Cris and Layla while Fish was really Cop Police or Police Cop..whatever!
We got one!
Daytime Drive-by
I write the text for DDB in real time - I seem to be less funny when I think about it. What takes the time are the images, which I have to conceive, track down, capture, edit, etc. once I've got the text and context. And you guys seem to respond more to my pictures than my snark.
So Drive-by still happens when we're not liveblogging and something pseudo-gay happens, but it will almost always be the last post of the day before Briefs.
That is, unless you guys just want pure text - I'll give the audience what they want.
Mason, Noah
Hanging out with teachers or professors after class on campus or having a drink is pretty common in college or graduate school.
I think the relationship one has with their advisor is unique. They get to know a student very intimately (not sexually, just more personally than if you were taking some big auditorium class with them)
I think if Mason was straight, viewers wouldn't be reading so much into his paying attention to Noah.
I haven't seen anything on Mason's part but geniuine non-sexual affection for Noah and a belief in his abilities and a desire to nurture him as a young filmmaker. Maybe a bit of wistfulness.
I know there have been rumors of a a triangle but none of the spoilers indicated that there would be one specifically (and spoilers are intentionally vague and misleading anyway)
So far nothing on screen, to me, seems inappropriate or sexual or romantic.
I think particularly for a student like Noah who has faced a lot of adversity and loss in the last 2 years and who has no parents or family, having someone else (besides Luke) believe in him and his work would be very touching and powerful for him.
Professors will enter their mentees into competitions or suggest them for grants or job placement and try other ways to give them a leg up. That seems pretty common.
If anything, Mason just seems kind of arrogrant and forceful with his opinions but I don't know how we go from that to Mason being a stalker who wants to sleep with Noah.
Perhaps that has yet to be developed but so far, I'm not seeing it.
Noah and luke like this please!!!
Hey dudes,
So i'm european, and for some reason everytime i watch a noah and luke clip i find myself shouting at my computer screen, mainly phrases like...kiss him for god sake or the likes!!
To me the idea that two teenage boys so very much in love managed to control their hormones for like what a year seems totally mad!! I was once a teenage boy and a reasonable conservative one but a whole year MAN??
Anyhow have a look at what teenage boys in the european soap land are up too....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvgsz_28Ato
Oh and personally, i'd love to see noah and mason get it on cause luke is way tooooooo annoying and noah is so much hotter, so any excuse to get his short off is good in my books!!
people should smile more!!!
I just don't get this show…
Ok, Luke sent Noah to LA so he can pursue his dreams even though his dad just died---I kinda get it! Really, I do, that he’s that selfless during a time like that. But I was thinking once Noah get back we would see Luke start to deal with his grief over losing his dad, which he haven’t really done so far. Instead we get this ridiculously jealous tiff and sad tease “of show me just how not jealous you are someplace private”. Also, don’t they live anywhere?
I don’t think these writers are even trying anymore to engage or intrigue the audience when it comes to this storyline?
If you lived here, you'd be home already
ATWT should spend a few bucks (though I know they don't have much to go around) and create at least a ROOM where Luke and Noah could live.
Just clear out all the space on screen Meg takes up and you could build a whole mansion! :P
I'm begging you! A breakfast nook? Anything?!
ATWT
I'm too far behind to have anything to comment on about this episode.
I just wanted to say how sad is it that, considering that Nuke got me into the show, I read the Liveblog recap and thought "Aw, too bad he didn't cover any of the storylines I care about."
LUKE!
Snicks, glad you noticed that our boy Luke so does not want to go back to work.
Love to Hate
Ratings
It seems that the show improvements (obviously in other storylines, because Nuke storyline sucks in terms of writing and air time) is being rewarded by the audience, because ATWT is up in the ratings for the third week in a row (i can't remember the last time they have three consecutive weeks with increase in the ratings). They are 5 now, and only 4k behind GH
I only wish that next Nuke storylines get better in terms of quality and airtime. If the show is trying to get better an gain viewers it'll be silly not to use two of their most popular actors
A Few Thoughts On this Episode
The final scene with Luke and Noah was sweet. I wish there was more that. But then, I'm an incurable romantic.
The scarf: I wasn't thinking "serial killer" or "autoerotic asphyxiation". I was thinking "bondage". But then, I'm an incurable romantic.
Why must the producers tease us by letting us think Damien's going to take his shirt off, not once, but TWICE? And was it really appropriate to show up for a date wearing a shirt that might remind your girlfriend of her recently deceased brother?
That said, how stupid is Meg to think Damien expected to find his ex-wife passed out in the wood? And whose idea was it to put her in the tightest, most nipple-bearing top they could find?
Emma rules. (I repeat myself.)
Was I the only who thought, when Holden was all chained to that bed, that Mauve (or whatever her name is) was gonna pull a "Jenny Fields"?
I still Lynn Herring's too young to play Henry's mom, but I'm enjoying watching her chew scenery with Trent Lawson.
I want a cupcake. Not THAT one, but...
Oh, and one more thing...
Oh the previous actors who've played Adam, one's starring in the revival of West Side Story, and another's currently starring on Glee.
Anyone wanna take bets on where the next one's moving onto after this show?
