Liveblogging "As The World Turns": Fish schmish! It's all about me, me, ME!

It's a big day for Luke as he decides to move back home after the Damian/Lily Lamian debacle. Um ... he probably should have mentioned it to Noah.

Will this drive Noah into growing closer to Mason?

Join us for the fun, and refresh for updates!

2:05 PM EST: Noah and Luke are sitting in the cafe talking about Lamian, and how little Faith is the all-knowing-all-seeing Eye in the Sky, looking at youuuuu. Apparently she saw Lamian kissing before Holden died, and Luke can't get past it. For some unknown reason, Noah brings up Luke kissing Brian.

Lamian are heavy petting on the couch as Faith watches from outside. Why do I get the feeling she's going to start banging a tin drum soon?

2:10 PM EST: Holden is still a hostage (have they allowed him to shower?), and tells Eb that if he wants money, he should call Lily and ask for ransom.

Luke says "I was drunk, and it was completely different". Noah says "yes, but your mom is going through a hard time, and almost walked into the pond. She has ... issues". Luke places all the blame on Damian, and vows to stop things before they can get any worse.

OMG ... MASON COMES IN ... SANS SCARF!!!!!!!!!!!. Isn't that like Batman without his utility belt ... or Wonder Woman without her golden lasso ... or Felicity without her hair (and we all remember how well that worked out).

2:15PM EST: Wait a minute, I may have spoken too soon. It's quite possible that Mason has modified his scarf to work as the sling for his "fractured arm". He sees Luke and Noah kiss, and stares disapprovingly. Luke leaves, and Mason tells Noah "hey, what do you think about going on another field trip ... just the two of us".

Jack confronts Lily about being a .... wait for it ... Wid-"ho". Zing! Sorry, folks.

2:25PM EST: Mason invites Noah to the ... Minneapolis Film Festival??? What's second prize? He has press passes, and can't drive himself, and wants Noah to go with him. Noah says "as much as i'm dying to meet Morris Day and see the spot where Mary Richards threw her hat into the air, Luke needs me". Mason basically comes out and accuses Noah of being Luke's bee-yotch, and Noah says "you have a problem with that?"

2:35PM EST: Jack tells Lily that he wants to take the kids to the farm til she and Damian are satiated and the kids "get their bearings". Faith is all for it, but Lily is adamantly opposed. Luke comes in and offers to move back home for a while to keep an eye on the kids.

2:45PM EST: As much as I love Judi Evans as Maeve, I can't help but do some fantasy casting, and have come to the conclusion that this is the role Anna Nicole Smith was born to play.

Mason tells Noah that his relationship with Luke is "evolved and fabulous" and he's jealous of what they have. The great thing is that they do everything fifty/fifty, and never make a decision without consulting the other. Luke enters, and tells Noah that he's made a decision without consulting him.

2:50 PM EST: Noah is aggravatingly okay with Luke's decision. When Luke leaves, Noah turns to Mason and says "it looks like I'll be able to go with you after all". Mason is silent, but his eyes say "Schwing!

The state police call Lily, and Damian answers. They tell him that the DNA in the truck is not Holden's. Holden is alive! Lily asks who called, and Damian doesn't answer her.

Preview Time: We'll be in Llanview the rest of the week, but we may make a Daytime Drive-by back here sometime this week.

    Lily the merry widow

Lily: "I'm the worst mother in the world, betraying the memory of Holden weeks after his death by sleeping with you."

    Damian: "No, you're grreeeaaatttt!!!"

Lily: "You're right.  Let's make out in the living room with the shutters open."

Paging Faith Snyder ... and there she is, right on cue.

    Blair's bucket of water

I wonder it Blair would loan Faith her bucket of water. If it can put out Arson Todd, maybe it can put out Lily's passion.

    Noah Is a Jerk....

.... why in the world would Noah bring up kissing Brian?  That was MONTHS ago and long forgotten.  He was a real butthead to throw that in Luke's face.

Because the writers of the show are worth shit.

    The Brian Kiss

Actually, this was something I didn't have a problem with (for a change).  He wasn't "throwing it in Luke's face."  It's not like he was using it against him in an argument.  He was drawing a quite logical comparison between the two.  He wasn't trying to make Luke feel bad about himself, but to point out that he should cut his mother some slack.

Now, if they were arguing about something Noah did and Noah threw that out, THAT would be throwing it in his face for cheap points.

    Shoe's on the other foot

I think it's good that he brung that up.

from the start, Luke's throw stuff like Maddie, Ameera, and Col. Crazy in Noah's face constantly. it's about time that the shoe was on the other foot and finally have something thrown at him

    I think Noah's gaining a spine.

    heh

does mason really use the term 'field trip?' - i'm not watching, but if someone asked me to go on a "field trip" with them, i'd probably slap them across the face for such a stupid term

god dude, just get a cheap motel room.

    Oh man...

I wonder what's going to happen to Damian when the sh*t hits the fan about Holden being alive and what happens to Noah in that "field trip". I have to say, today's episode kept me entertained.

    I love snicks' blog...

...but this story is just plain horrendous.  That someone really write this?  No wonder their bleeding viewers and are about to be cancelled.  I tried to hold on.  Thanks to this blog but even now, this is unbearable to even read.  Here's to hoping that they ship these characters to another soap and give them better material.
    jjose712's picture

    The truth is

that they lose viewers last week, but the last two weeks bafore they were 5th in the ratings, ahead of OLTL and AMC. It seems that after all ATWT has a loyal fanbase, because the other way is difficult to understand. In november starts the storylines of the new writers, they must be better that this, just because probabilities say that it's difficult to be worse than some of the storylines of the last months
    jsg03jd's picture

    But

Luke and Noah were also hardly on during those weeks that ATWT slightly beat out the competition, and ATWT focused on its vets like Bob and Kim.  Maybe Nuke need to be on less for the ratings to go up?  :-)

Van Hansis continues to do the best he can with this material though, and I have to give him mad props for that.

    jjose712's picture

    You are right

but usually the Nuke days have good ratings (at least this weeks), wich is quite amazing because this is one of the worst Nuke's storylines ever (probably tied with Ameera and the murder mystery one). The direct competence is far better in terms of quality and the ratings are pretty similar.

And at least on Nuke department, october don't seems very promising. It's rumoured that the new writers rewrite all nuke storyline, and Jake will be off the show for a month (it's not a big difference because he was almost off since this crap begins). I think they began to use more Luke on family storylines, and the Nuke ones will peak in november.

But i hope they don't go the love triangle route, Mason is not a good third one in a triangle, he is not a rootable character, and in my opinion, Noah as the center of the triangle is a mistake too. I really hope that they make Mason a villain soon, but not a cartoon villain like Col Mayer, just a scheeming and manipulative one, the one who people could love to hate

    Worse Episode Ever.

I have to say this is probably one of the worse episodes ATWT has done in a  long long time.  The whole snyder storyline is just horrible, badly written, awfully acted, either shut faith up or recast her for christ sake, and just plain boring.  Seriously the fast track this storyline is on is just disjarring.   The audience is suppose to believe that in less than 2 weeks holden's dead, lily's grieving by popping pills wandering in a lake and balling damien.  N the solution is having Noah move back home, cause he's been on his own for what a month?

    just awful.

    it's just stupid!

That current plot is just unbelievably stupid! ATWT is getting worse and worse, why they actually brought Mason on this,if they just don't able and SO afraid of to tell a REAL juicy interesting gay love triangle story? i feel bad for Forbes March,i think the actor don't deserves that crap what they gave him, actually like the others characters as well.

    OLTL is rocks!

    Dave Doty's picture

I still say ATWT is getting better.

It's just these two stories stuck in the suck.  Sadly, they're the stories most relevant to this site, so by necessity the liveblogs tend to showcase the show at its worst.

OTOH, there's much more room for snark.

    TriplicateGuy's picture

I think Forbes March is the problem!

Mason was just really badly cast. March is absolutely charmless in the role. Remember when he bragged about how the scarves were his idea? If that's an actor's defining characteristic for playing a gay role, no wonder he's tanking. From his wardrobe to his haircut to the non-rapport he has with either Van or Jake, he is the ungayest gay character on TV right now. He's seems totally afraid to play anything resembling warmth, let alone sexual energy.

Compare and contrast to Larry Lau's portrayal of Brian. I know the actor's straight, but that never crossed my mind during his televised scenes. He was riveting and totally believable, and Brian's passion for Luke was palpable. March has been a big gaping hole of nothing since day one. Has there been a look, a gesture, a touch at any time that said Mason was gay or interested in Noah in the least? No wonder the writers lost interest in his story. One more reason to cast gay actors in gay roles.

In other ATWT news, Eric William Morris (aka MATT!!!!) has just gone into Mamma Mia on Broadway, playing the fiance. So if you're in NYC, you can see him singing and dancing in a swim suit. Of course, you have to sit through Mamma Mia, but whatever.

    It's Interesting....

.... because Forbes was so gung ho about playing a gay guy.... but he's not very believable as one.  I dunno, I don't see that he has his great lust for Noah.  And no the character is not warm or likeable or appealing or attractive.  Yes, Mason is a handsome guy.... but the character is unappealing.  And the total lack of chemistry between Jake and Forbes..... it's just painful.   I wish I could say the story was ending, but it's not.  It's actually just getting started.

    Character

But from what I've seen the writers haven't given either Mason or the actor anything to work with.  Mason shows up grimaces makes small talk and leaves.  If this storyline is too work we are going to need to see alot more interaction between Mason and Noah.  These off screen movie road trips aren't going to make this anymore appealling just confusing.
    jsg03jd's picture

    I Miss Laurence Lau...

I thought Brian should have stuck around.

And that Luke did give in to that particular temptation.  After all, Van Hansis did say that he played it such that the Brian/Luke attraction was not one-sided only on Brian's part.

    Anthony D. Langford's picture

    Maybe.....

..... it'll turn out Noah is attracted to Mason too.  Though given that Noah's facial expressions rarely change, it would be hard to tell.

Lily's Kids Don't Need To Be Watched Over

...because it's too soon for a new father figure, they need one because THEIR SOLE LIVING PARENT (as far as anyone knows) is talking about suicide, and already sort-of tried it once.

They should really try to balance out the Nuke-Mason-Damian-Lily-Holden trainwreck by including one of their GOOD stories.  They could have put Mason off until tomorrow and put almost any of their other storylines in, and today would have been a lot more bearable.

When Jack is one of the most sensible, level-headed characters in the entire episode, you know there's a problem.

    What a great ATWT episode

Thanks for the liveblog for As The World Turns. I really liked the episode. This Mason/Noah relationship is about to heat up and I am very excited about it. I think that Mason and Noah will develop more chemistry as the story moves forward. Keep in mind that ATWT is telling the story of a luke and Noah relationship that is going into its third year and they are dealing with a rabid worldwide fan base that does not want anything or anyone to come betwween them. Kudos to ATWT for moving into uncharted waters with this couple, I'll be right there with them.

Oh, come on, y'all, it's not

Oh, come on, y'all, it's not that bad. What's happening now with the Nuke storyline is that there doesn't seem to be any set direction as to where they're going with Mason, but I know they'll get there soon. But at least now we can see that Mason is interested in Noah; we'll just have to see if Noah is interested at all.  But I for one will be patient and see what happens (think of it as a surprise--and yeah, hopefully a good one). As for Lily--man, she's actually making me side with Meg.  And Damian needs to leave soon!
