Liveblogging "One Life To Live": "Koi"-tus Interruptus
See, because KOI is a a fish, and Fish and Oliver were interrupted, so ... Never mind. Will Kish finish their first date? More importantly, will Oliver have to shower to get rid of the creepy grave dirt, and will Kyle help him? Joins us for the fun and refresh for updates! 2:05PM EST: Matthew and "tough but cute" Danni are on a plane back to Seattle. Oliver thanks Kyle for waiting, and Kyle says "how about a shower?" YES!!!!! Oh wait ... he meant that Oliver should shower alone. Damn. Oh jeez ... Rex learns his father is Mitch and now his facial tics have completely run amok.
2:10PM EST OH ... MY ... GODDESS. FUB walks out in just a towel and asks Kyle to hand him his shirt. Kyle takes one long lingering look at a wet, almost nake ...where was I? Oh yeah, Kyle says "you know, we don't have to go out. We can stay in". 2:20PM EST: It looks like Layla and Cris are going to give it a go. So should we start the countdown til Evangeline comes out of her coma? AWWW! Oliver is so cute. He nervously asks Kyle what he wants to do. He says "we can play cards, or watch a movie. Christina Comes Home for Christmas is on TV". Kyle grabs his hand and says "I missed you. We don't have to do anything if you don't want to. I just want to spend time with you. The rest can wait". Oliver whispers "I don't wanna wait". They kiss and move off camera. So does this mean they're going to miss Christina Comes Home for Christmas"? 2:30PM EST: TBTD has finally found out that Matthew and Danni are friends. Kyle and Oliver are passionately kissing, and Oliver says "i don't want to disappoint you. I haven't been with anyone since college". Kyle says "don't worry
2:35PM EST: Kyle and Oliver try to explain that Oliver had to shower because he just got back from work, and Fish says "so I was kissing my boyfriend? What's the big deal, I've been waiting a long time". Kyle looks impressed at Oliver's ... declaration. Oliver then does a double take and says to Layla and Cris "Whoa! Were you two just kissing?" This stuff with Mitch and the sickle is just ... goofy. 2:45PM EST: Cris and Layla leave the room so the guys can talk, and Oliver and Kyle decide not to rush into things, and to take it slow. Uh-Oh. That sounds dangerously close to Luke and Noah-speak. Well, now everyone knows that Danni is TBTD's kid, and that she and Matthew have run off together. ABC has just interrupted for a special report about the President speaking at the Fort Hood memorial service, so that's it for today. If anything big happened in the last ten minutes of the show, feel free to discuss it in the comments. There was just too too much to adore about the KISH and CRAYLA scenes-
Coal-faced Oliver! (*sings* never before has a boy asked for more..) CRAYLA finally taking the plunge! THAT towel scene (raunch!) FUB's nervous pre-KOItal muttering! CRAYLA-interruptus! (Plus well timed Brothers and Sisters reference LMAO) Sit. Watch. Cry!

That said, if they're going to lay on this much syrup now, just imagine the sugar levels when they steer our new favourite foursome into the holiday period! Come Christmas, that flat is going to be crawling with mistletoe and bulging...stockings!
Also: FUB's double take on cottoning on to CRAYLA's entrance was remarkably Chris Evans-esque, what with the waving arms and OTT expression! ha!

Well, I'm East Coast (well, EC time, actually in Ohio) and I also won't see this for 3 more hours. Damn work and hour commute.
Of course, mine will be on the DVR, so I can just skip all the boring stuff and get right to the good parts.
But at least you get the beautiful surroundings of Seattle for your backdrop. We're at barren tree stage for the next 5-6 months.

OK, I know it's not KISH, but that's twice in the same episode someone has asked how Matthew could have escaped, because he's "a kid in a wheelchair".
I know firsthand that determined teenagers in wheelchairs are quite adept at figuring out ways to ditch parents and/or school

Slowing KISH action down a bit
Like the song says, ANTICIPATION...
Scott Evans told Michael Logan as much. Scott said the show doesn't want to show that gay guys just want to eff each other's brains out on the first date (and likely fuel the haters' perceptions of gay men). Supposedly, they want to blow that stereotype (whatevs). But thus far, ABC/Mickey Mouse have been good to us, and KISH will likely push the envelope.
We just have to wait in ecstatic agony until KISH finally reunite in, you know, that way :o)

Absolute Perfection
I loved the entire episode, with one exception: REX.
MITCH LAWRENCE IS A FREAK!!
OMG. The scenes between Oliver and Kyle are so natural and I'm so glad that TPTB left in the awkward moments, as well as the familiar moments. They share a past and they were probably friends way before they were lovers and it's clear to me that's probably what made them fall in love with each other in the first place.
I definitely enjoyed the scenes between Layla and Cristian. I also liked how she confessed to him that she's NO problem in being by herself, it's just that he makes her feel good and why should she deny herself time with him.
I haven't read anyone else's response, but I've got to say that the kissing scenes between Oliver/Kyle and Layla/Cristian were wonderful. We got to see Kyle reacting with pure SEXUAL DESIRE for his boyfriend, while seeing him in that towel. Oliver's a very hairy cub and that's one of the things that he definitely LOVES about him.
Then, having the quartet just "hanging out and watching a movie" was PERFECTION. No one couple had to go into individual rooms, after walking in on each other. They behaved like ADULTS.
See, it can be done, without having to isolate the lone gay couple from everyone else on the show.

That Scott Evans & Brett Claywell have the same hair color as AWZ's Dennis Grabosch & Igor Dolgetschew? Scott & Dennis both sport brownish/blonde hair while Brett & Igor are dark haired. Just saying..

This seems to be a pattern in the soaps.
Other than DeRo (who are both have dark brown hair) and Nick and Kyle (both dark-haired), who were in an interracial relationship, the prominent adult gay soap couples showcase dark featured guys with blonds: Craig/John-Paul, Christian/Syed, John-Paul/Kieron, Nuke, Kish, Ollian... Maybe it's the BBM film effect to pattern these couples after Jake and Heath. I dunno.
Hopefully, in the future we'll see more variations.

In this instance I would say it's really more of a coincidence with Kyle and Fish, however I have seen this pattern before. But not in soaps, but in yaoi. And in Yaoi it is usually is the blonde that is the passive one, and the dark-haired one that is aggressive.
But I doubt that gay soap pairings have anything to do with Brokeback Mountain, as important as it was, but rather coincidence for the most part. It just happens to work out that way.
Hair Today, Gone to Torchwood
That contrast is what I have always wondered about RTD's (may he rot in the 456 tank whilst Ianto watches) casting ability. Everyone on Torchwood had dark hair. Somehow I would have substituted Tom Price (a very cute PC Andy) for one of them.

SoapNet and the Pre-Emption
Actually, they rerun it two, maybe three times. Once in prime time, and once or twice late night where you can grab it without interfering with your normal prime time recordings.
But apparently not everyone was pre-empted, since some people are describing a scene I didn't see.
I don't know about anyone else, but on my affiliate, they pre-empted the show, while cutting into the memorial service for a commercial break. I can't think of anything sadder or more disgraceful in the handling of THAT.

Just got to watch
OMG, what a fabulous episode. The last scene I got to see before the newsbreak was, I think, the final scene for Kish: Kyle, Fish, Layla and Cris sitting down to watch the movie...and it was great, Fish and Kyle gave these great, loving looks to each other and Kyle put his hand on Fish's knee.
On Scott Evans is just a beautiful, beautiful man! Inside and out. I think I'm in love!
Kudos to ABC, OLTL, Frank Valentini, Ron Carlivati, Scott Evans and Brett Claywell for creating the best gay romance in the history of American television! I'm just beaming from ear to ear!
Now, I hope we get to see a bit more in the future.... ;-)
