Liveblogging "One Life To Live": A Very Kish Thanksgiving

It's Thanksgiving in Llanview. Gather 'round for a heaping helping of turkey, mashed taters, and Kish. But beware of dropped forks, the new Mayor, and psychotic cult leaders.

Join us for the fun, and refresh for updates!

2:05PM EST: Dorian is puffed up about Viki stepping aside as Mayor, and is so full of herself she's oozing.

In the aftermath of the Mitch Lawrence bombshell, everyone is still trying to get their bearings, which means Brody may yet end up in the shower again.

And Cris comes out in just a towel. I swear these people must know when we're liveblogging. He's drinking a glass of milk, and just let me state for the record ... it does do a body good.

Layla asks Oliver if he called his parents, and he says "yes, but they haven't called back".

Kyle walks in on Roxy chatting with Morris the Porcupine and delivers the greatest line in the history of everything "are you talking to a beaver?"

2:10PM EST: Amelia comes in and says that the city council has held an emergency meeting and tells her "congratulations, Mayor Lord".

2:20PM EST: Ha! Dorian says "gay people around this country are counting on me and I'm not going to let them down!"

Kyle is assigned to make a green bean casserole for Thanksgiving dinner, and is adorably clueless. He asks Roxy is she wants to join them, and she says "I don't wanna be a sixth wheel". Oh Roxy.

Matthew is upset because he still can't feel anything in his legs. Too bad there isn't a clumsy black girl around to help out.

Bo and Nora are about to get hot and heavy when Clint walks in and says "there's no use hiding it from me, I know what's going on". Which obviously means he has no idea what's going on.

2:30PM EST: And we're back from break, and surprise! It turns out that Clint was talking about something completely different.

Dorian can't understand why Star is not more happy for her, and Star explains that the only reason Dorian is mayor is because Jared died, and she really doesn't feel like celebrating. Dorian realizes that Star is right, and her small heart grew three sizes that day.

Viki is upset because she forgot it was Thanksgiving and didn't have time to cater prepare anything. just then the doorbell rings, and whatstheirfaces are there with a thanksgiving dinner, along with GiGi, Rex and Shane. The doorbell rings again, and she open the door to find Star, baby Hope ... and Dorian.

Matthew is feeling blue, and wonders why his parents haven't called yet ... when on cue, they walk into the hospital room, along with Destiny and her family.

Kyle is about to leave with his "casserole" and asks Roxy again if she wants to come. She says no, and then Kyle tells her "my mother was far from perfect, but she loved me, and I always knew that". Roxy says "sounds like she was a pretty good mom". Kyle says "she was. You remind me a lot of her", which causes Roxy to tear up. AWWW!

Layla is murdering the mashed potatoes when Kyle knock on the door. Oliver opens it and they say "Happy Thanksgiving" to each other. The look on Oliver's face is priceless. The word "beaming" doesn't even do it justice.

this isn't the look i was talking about

2:45PM EST: Viki congratulates Dorian on becoming the new Mayor. Seeing these two Grande Dames going toe-to-toe takes me back twenty years.

Viki reads a poem while we get a montage of the various thanksgiving scenes.

Matthew is still feeling down when Destiny accidentally drops a fork on his leg. He screams "you clumsy oaf!" , but then realizes ... he can feel his legs! It's a ... Thanksgiving miracle?

2:55PM EST: The last segment of the show features a pop-rock song montage of Thanksgiving. We see the late Asa's picture (sniff), Roxy hugging Shane (sniff), everyone celebrating around Matthew (sniff), but we don't get a final Kish shot (booooo!).

Preview Time: Nick returns next week!

    Wearing a towel

Some men just wear a towel well. Cristian is one of those men. It's not just that they look hot doing it, it's that they don't seem to be aware that they're violating social conventions, or that it could come loose and fall at any moment. That they're blissfully unaware of the risks or actively don't care make it even sexier.

Also, I guess we're past the point where Cristian put his shirt on when Fish came home.

    What the what?

I could have sworn all the writers had 'son' at the end of their names for a second. Must be the heat. You're all going to be so sorry FIFA didn't schedule next year's little kick-about during our summer months i.e. now. All we'll get in June/July next year is torrential downpour. And P.O'd soccer fans *cackle*

    Anyhoo, to business:

Is this a prelude to a very Kish Krismas? Insert tawdry Stocking-filler-Santa's-Sack jokes here. I'm going to refrain from innuendo- When these two get even a little physical (as above) my ovaries begin to tremble and my wit evaporates faster than our table wine on Chrismas Day, they are that adorable :)

I wish Roxy would have taken Kyle's offer to have thanksgiving with them! She is basically a surrogate mother for Kyle and Oliver!

    A few things

1.) The things Kyle says about his mom, he talks as if she is no longer of the living. Has this been mentioned before that she might be dead and I never noticed? That would explain why he takes to Roxy as a mother figure. I LOVE their scenes together!

2.) LOVE ROXY! I'm glad she got to spend some time with her family, that made me tear up!

3.) Still only about 1 min of total KISH! ARGH! But it was nice anyway. I was disappointed they weren't shown at the very last montage. But Cris and Layla weren't shown either.

4.) There was a great line delieverd by Rex to his sis Natalie, when they were talking about Roxy!

Natalie: "That is one good thing I got from Roxy."

Rex: "What? An appreciation for leopard print?"

    Same here

I thought the same thing about his mom.  I wish they would get a little more into their pasts.  Like when Oliver said how cool Kyles parents were when they outed him.  But like you said, when he was talking about his mom it sounded as if she died.  I'm almost positive that they never mentioned it in any episodes so I would really like to hear about his family and his mom and dad.  I know his sister died and I never really got the whole story on that because I had just gotten into to Kish thing and they never realy talked about it except that she was involved in the KAD murders. But like I said I hope they get into a little more of our boys history and Kyles family.  As far as the Fishes, boo!  Hiss!  Whackos!

*OLTL Spoiler* - sweet episode today - good feelings all around

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't wrap up the show with KISH, but I'm biased!!  It is a nice ending to all the Kyle and Oliver " becoming a couple " story that we've been loving the last month.....It's been some ride.

Now I am really looking forward to these guys using their acting chops starting next week with Nick's return and the future dramas unfolding.   Scott and Brett are two of the most talented actors I've ever seen on daytime and can't wait for each episode they are on...it's actually hard to wait until they are on again.

Thank you all the KISHMET members I share thoughts with everyday.  You are all great and I love you all.

    Starr and Markko and Nick(y)

    FYI,

Starr spells it with two Rs, Markko spells it with two Ks (they even did a scene about this with Starr and Dorian early in Markko's time on the show).

And wouldn't it be a kick in the pants to find out that Nick is actually Nikki's (i.e. Viki's, and no, I'm never sure how those two spell their names, but since they're confused ast to who they are, I'm allowed to be confused as to how to spell their names) son?

    hmm....

ok so today's episode was good all around but i felt i a bit dissapointed i wanted to see more of kish,  but i did love seeing roxy and kyle sence that was very sweet and touch to see both of them together, especially when kyle told her that she reminded her of his mom and roxy teared up. Thank you

for the update.  Yes, the boys of Daytime do seem to get a fair amount of towel time, just wish there was more Kish towel time.

For being a "mainstream" network, ABC is actually doing a very good job.

I do miss the days of Queen Dorian vs Queen Vicki.   WWE has nothing like it.....

    Well......

this was the Thanksgiving show for the soap so we really shouldn't have expected a lot of Kish...and this was all about Jared's murder and Matthew's "miracle" and families getting together plus we had a lot of Roxy and Kyle. I think we don't need to "time" the minutes they are on - but rather the quality of the time.

    Sigh

I loved today's show.  Thanksgiving/holiday shows are for the entire cast and OLTL is the best at utilizing it as we saw so many people today.   I feel the focus should be on Viki and Dorian and the Bukes, especially given what's going on with them and all they have lost and all that history to be played upon.   I loved seeing Renee and that Asa wasn't forgotten.  That was a great surprise.  I loved Kyle and Roxy's scenes and hearing Kyle talk about his mother.  I would have hated to have missed out on those scenes.  And Matthew getting his legs back as an excellent way to bring somewhat of a close to a long arc for that kid.  It was an great show, IMO.  I have no complaints.

That said, I'm looking forward to Nick coming back next week and and the new story and all the drama he's going to bring in with him.

    Kish

I thought the show was great because it showed a lot of the cast and really allowed Kish to be weaved into it. I mean Layla and Cristian got less time then them. But we got Kish holding hands at the table which was sweet. And it appears that everyone at that Thanksgiving got new hair cuts. Cristian is so funny on how he just wanders around clueless in a towel and that he though a first date wasn't necessary because he moved back in. The scenes with Roxy and Kyle though were really great. I wonder what will happen to Amelia since they all agree Dorian should be with David but then became mayor? Lastly, Erika Slezak proves in every scene why she is one of the queens of daytime.

    what a great show!

OLTL is firing on all cylinders now.  I'm not thankful that the actor who played Jared is gone as he was soooo good looking.  But I am thankful for Kish.  The US finally got our own Christian/Olli and I am so happy.

I am glad to be watching One Life to live again after stopping in the early 90's.  I have to do some research on Mitch and what he has done to Llanview in the past.

    Llanview's Mayor

While I'm looking forward to seeing Dorian as mayor, the way it happened just reinforced the reason I wanted Viki to win in the first place: for a long time now, the woman who is, arguably, the show's lead character has been reduced to a supporting role in stories starring her children, husband, and ex-husband.

That she's stepped aside to literally be a support to Natalie and Charlie in their grief storylines doesn't assuage my fears at all.

Morris hasn't spoken back to Roxie in quite a while.  Is this a sign that she's getting better?

I'm a little confused by Mitch's guest-cam scenes.  Are we to assume someone on the show is secretly working for Mitch, or that we're about to get a surprise return of another character?  Rebecca Lewis and Mitch Laurence seem made for each other.  (NB: I'm just speculating, not asking for spoilers.)
