Morning Meme: Hawaii Fail-0, Fallout From "Leary-Gate," Chris and John Go To Camp, and More!

Plus we absolutely love Miss New York, when Harry met Corey, Matt Bomer gets drenched, and bedbugs want your popcorn.

Yesterday in the Briefs we mentioned Denis Leary's appearance on The Daily Show and the gay slur he used, which he attributed to Rescue Me co-star Steven Pasquale. Steven's wife, Tony-nominated actress Laura Benanti had this to say on Twitter:

Steven released this statement shortly afterwards:

I am an actor, and I live and work in New York City. I can honestly say that half the people I know, love and respect are gay. I simply didn't say it. I'm not capable of saying it, anymore than describing my black friends as the 'N' word. I can't take any responsibility for it. None. I'm afraid Denis got his wires a little crossed in remembering that story.

So what are we to gather from all of this? For starters, Denis needs to publicly apologize for slandering his co-star. And maybe he should shut his !@#$% piehole for a while.

I don't think I have to mention that Kylie's album Aphrodite came out yesterday, but another gay ally also dropped his latest effort. Enrique Iglesias's Euphoria, his ninth studio album and first bilingual album, is now on store shelves.

Speaking of new releases, A Single Man came out on dvd and blu-ray yesterday. Tom Ford's directorial debut earned Colin Firth an Oscar nomination for his exquisite performance. Also out on blu-ray is the 1963 classic Jason and the Argonauts, which f/x legend Ray Harryhausen considers his best film. Seeing that skeleton sword fight always takes me back to Saturday afternoon as a kid, wearing footie jammies and eating fluffernutters.

In infuriating but not unexpected news, Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle has vetoed the Civil Unions Bill, calling it "marriage by another name." I hope she's visited by the Brady Bunch cursed tiki idol.

Remember "comedy legend" Gallagher? Here's a hint - watermelon smasher. Who knew he would become a paranoid, right-wing maniac? Well actually, it's not that big of a surprise.

George Michael was arrested after London Pride for running his car into a shop. BTW, can one of our UK readers tell me what the hell "Snappy Snaps" is?

By now you've probably heard the horrific report about the gay activist in Uganda who was found beheaded. It turns that the gay aspect may be a hoax.

Carrie who? Miss New York Claire Buffie's campaign platform for Miss America is called "Straight for Equality: Let's Talk." Here's how it's described, and all I can say is thank you, Claire!

"The issues of gay rights make up the civil rights movement of our generation and reach far beyond marriage equality. As Miss New York 2010, Claire aims to break the stigma of marginalized youth, eliminating discriminatory vocabulary and changing the climate in New York schools. She celebrates diversity and the things that make us all unique and strives to instill pride, dignity and respect in developing minds and compassionate hearts. This will be a year of change in New York State and Claire is ready to support this incredible movement."

If you went to a movie theater in NYC to watch Grown Ups or The Last Airbender and found the experience painful, there may be a reason, and it has nothing to do with the fact that you were watching Grown Ups or The Last Airbender.

Just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in. If you're in Wasilla, beware of pods.

Glee star Heather Morris with Hollywood newcomer Nick Bolton at the Thirst Gala

New Zealand Olympian Blake Skjellerup officially came out a couple of months ago, stating that he waited until after the Olympics so he could concentrate on competing. Actually, I think he didn't want to draw attention to himself ... and his Tribble smuggling ring.

When Harry met Corey

Matt Bomer has the right idea (especially if you're on the east coast)

Unfortunately it took me ten minutes to see it.

Chris & John to the Rescue: Summer Camp debuts on Logo tonight at 8PM EST, and below you can see a sneak peek.

Below you can see Kelis on NewNowNext Noise talking about her new album and revealing why lesbians are a tougher audience than gay men.
