Move over, Quiznos: There's a new "King" of sexual sandwich imagery

What is it with fast-food joints and blatant sexual imagery? First there was Quiznos and its awesome "put it in me, Scott" ad, and now Burger King has released (outside the U.S.) this print ad which, c'mon, can only be taken one way.

Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind-blowing burger that comes with a single beef patty, topped with American cheese, crispy onions and the A1 Thick and Hearty Steak Sauce.

It's bad enough that Burger King thrust that creepy predatory "King" character on us, but now this? And is it just me, or does this picture remind anyone else of the poster for the classic 80's horror flick Happy Birthday To Me?

    Happy Birthday

"Seven of the most bizarre inches you'll ever eat!"

I blame it all on As the World Turns - Luke and Noah totally started all this lunchmeat fetishization with all their dirty talk before the big day.

Actually this started long before L&N....

.....try way back when when the old lady started asking "Where's the beef?" did commerical food fetishization as you call it got started.... and if you look for more, you can find it even earlier than that..... movies, commericals, etc.... all have it.....

    Just kidding

Oh, I know - just making a joke. Ads have been using sex to sell pretty much everything for half a century - and I don't actually think anyone behind this ad pays that close of attention to daytime soaps! But I'd probably still argue that the porno-box imagery in the above ad is a pretty large step past "Where's the beef?"

    Throw in a side salad...

Seven inches and a tossed salad sounds like a nice balanced dinner!  :-)

Agreed, that King character that they came up with was WAY too creepy!  Hopefully, we've seen the last of him!

Been going on for a long time.

Yep the Where's the beef lady really started the whole thing years ago, I actually find the imagery funny.

    God Bless Clara Peller

I know she's up there with the big salami of her dreams.

    That's all I am saying...

    Ugh

Man, I hate Burger King.   The woman's expression doesn't look like she is a willing participant in this "meal."  She looks pretty terrified.

Even though it would still be insanely sexualized, it would be so much less offensive if she actually looked like she was lusting after the sandwich.

Oh, totally. Then, to me at least, it would fall a little more in the category of "jokes you're embarrassed to laugh at" and less "not even funny because she looks like a rape victim".

    Oh please

She shouldn't be looking so damn terrified.  Seven inches isn't THAT big, lady

    pshh...

Right, you can totally get 12 at subway.

...Oh, wait, you probably weren't talking about sandwiches.
