Video: "One Life To Live": Nick, Oliver, Kyle, and "Going There"

ABC may have completely blown the Adam Lambert affair, but you have to give the network credit for what they're doing with Oliver and Kyle on One Life To Live. Yesterday's episode proved that this show is willing to go further than any soap opera (or network prime-time program for that matter) has ever gone in exploring a complicated gay relationship.

From the all-too realistic nervousness, to the awkward talk of condoms and doing "that", it was a seminal moment. U.S. television hasn't completely shied away from discussing safe-sex for gay men, but having two gay men so clearly intending to have sex find a package of condoms on the bed where they are about to do it is sadly almost unheard of in the States. Ditto having Kyle use the words "making love" when talking to Oliver about what might happen.

Alas, that seminal moment was interrupted again, this time by news of the assault on Nick. While gay-bashings are a rather tired cliche on television, at least they had both men get phone calls about the attack. So instead of Kyle rushing off and and leaving Oliver to stew, the story kept both men in the action

"Koi"-tus interruptus aside, there's no getting around the fact that the scenes with Kyle and Oliver in the Candles-R-Us inspired bedroom are the most romantic ever seen on daytime, and hopefully are a sign of things to come. In fact, given how good the scenes are, the mind reels at what the network has planned for when the two inevitably do make love.

Enjoy the clip below, and join us as we continue the groundbreaking journey of Oliver and Kyle.
