Out singer Theo Tams wins "Canadian Idol"
Big congratulations to Theo Tams, who has just won Canadian Idol! What makes Theo's story so special is that not only is he cute and talented, but he came out on the show, something that did nothing to diminish his immense popularity with the viewing audience: "From the thousands who turned up at open auditions across the country at the beginning of the competition Tams proved to have the most talent, perseverance and - eventually - fan following. A standout from the outset, he was pegged as a frontrunner by the judges and became more prominent as the season went on. 'You proved without a doubt you're probably the best male vocalist we've ever had on this show,' judge Zack Werner said to Tams on Monday night's performance show." As wonderful as this is, I can't help but speculate what would happen if a contestant on American Idol came out on the show. Would he receive the same kind of support, even if he was just as talented as Theo? Theo was amazing
For the first time i voted multiple times -- he is easily the best technical vocalist male ever on Canadian or American Idol.

It always comes down to personal taste
It always comes down to personal taste when deciding who is "the best" but saying Theo is "one of the best" is hardly a ridiculous statement, as you suggest. I loved Clay's singing in AI2 but I personally feel Anthony Callea from Australian Idol 2 is the best technical singer to come from the Idol worldwide franchise.

Chipper of Operación Triunfo spain is far better than Clay Aiken at any level, it's true that Clay is a grat tecnical singer, but he has a very weak stage presence.
Maybe Theo isn't as good as Clay tecnically but he is far more interesanting musically

Is Theo the second openly gay Idol winner of all the different versions around the world,with Will Young from UK`s Pop Idol being the first?
edit:Just found out Will Young came out publicly shortly after winning back in 2002.So Theo is still the first that came out during the whole process.

It's obvious that he has a great voice and is a good singer, but i think Theo's song choices are far more interesting than Clay¡s musical tastes.

Let's agree to disagree then. I hated Callea's version and that may explain why we don't see eye to eye. Its a matter of personal preference.

there are only a few things about singing that are objective, the rest is all about personal preference.
I don't know so much about Clay's career, i only watch some youtube videos of his performances on AI, some of them i like, some of them not so much. I began to follow AI, only last year (when i improve my internet conection speed), and i don't like sixth season at all, this year was far better in my opinion.
I don't like seasons 1, 3 and 5 of Australian Idol, but enjoy 2 and 4. Chanel Cole and Damien Leith are two of my favourites contestants all over the world.
I follow canadian idol this year for the first time, and the field was very weak, only a little bunch of contestants were good singer. Theo was the best by far, he has a nice voice, is a really good piano player and some of his songs choices (collide or sweet ones) really suit him very well
