News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Ryan chats with Ellen, no "Gay Look" requested.

Ryan Phillippe appeared on Ellen yesterday, and the result was much less teeth grating than Jay Leno'ssmug interview last week.

Ryan seemed much more at ease in this interview, even though Ellen ambushed him with a dark secret with his past - he used the Crest Pump in high school. They also talk about his role as Billy in One Life To Live, but unlike the snickering, mocking tone of the "other interview", they discuss how groundbreaking it was.

You can see the clip below, and btw, the website that's sprung up because of the Leno interview has really taken off...like a bird.

    This is Fantastic

Thanks for posting this! I enjoyed this episode very much and never knew that Ryan played a gay character as his first stint in acting. And it shows how much progress we have made over the last 16 years. The path to equality is paved one step at a time.

And Ellen is certainly helping to highlight some of these steps!

    Have always like Ryan Phillippe

In the comments of another blog reporting on the Leno interview, some people took issue with Ryan's embarrassed reaction to Leno's line of questioning. Well, the Ellen interview should prove without a doubt that Ryan has absolutely no problem discussing his previous gay role on a soap opera. With a thoughtful interviewer like Ellen, he was even able to convey the positive impact that role had on some viewers who wrote poignant letters to him.
