"Shear Genius" (2.04) recaplet: Orgy in the salon!> The fourth episode of Shear Genius aired on Bravo last night, and the only men remaining in the competition are our three out stylists, Daniel, Charlie, and Paulo (aka "The good, the bad, and the furry"). The "shortcut" challenge this week is the toughest one yet. The stylists have to start working on their clients, then trade off with another stylist, then another stylist, before finally getting their clients back. Or, as Paulo puts it, "that girl will be swapped for another girl, like some crazy orgy". This leads to all sorts of drama, like when Daniel finds out that his client's hair has "filler", and he runs around like a gay chicken with its head cut off, squawking "I have a half-processed three-step process!, and it's scary!". Okay Daniel, I'll have to take your word for it. Charlie's client ends up a blubbering mess (wouldn't you?), and Paulo seems more exasperated than usual (or maybe he finally discovered that someone combed egg yolks through his hair while he was sleeping ... unless it's actually "Mood Hair" that changes color to fit his feelings, in which case "yellow" means "scared"). The winner of the challenge turns out to be Dee, who we shockingly find out in this episode is a lesbian, and the loser is Meredith, who colored her client's hair to an interesting shade of Crayola red. Back at the house, Charlie is stewing because he didn't win a challenge, and dismisses Dee's win by saying that all the cuts looked like crap (I'm sure he would say the same thing if he had won, right?). "Welcome to your fort elimination challen, you have already met our guess just Woy Teeluck."
Once again, the most entertaining part of the show is judge Rene Fris and his magical bag of mispronunciations, only this time he's joined by fellow judge Roy Teeluck, who's like Rene's mini-me.
The elimination challenge this week is a cut that the client will find easy to replicate by herself. Dee won the first challenge, so not only does she get to choose her client, but also everyone else's clients. Naturally, she gives Charlie the worst client, and for the first time since this season started ... Charlie looks to be in trouble. Find out who won, and how our three out stylists fared, after the break.
Daniel didn't have a lot of screen time this week (aside from the aformentioned "Filler!" drama) but he managed to get through with no problems. I still fear for him, though, in the coming weeks. He hasn't ended up in the bottom three for any challenge yet, and if he does, I'm not sure how he'll be able to take it. They'd better have lots of tissues, because he's like a dam of tears ready to burst.
Congratulations to Paulo, who for the first time did not end up in the bottom three! Must have been the protein from those egg yolks. Hopefully, this will help him settle down a bit, and maybe we can get that mood hair a cool shade of blue or purple.
Excuse me while I laugh my ass off. Charlie was all lame threats this week...
"I have three faces, the two I use during the day, and the one I use to stab you in the back."
Once again, it would probably be more threatening if it didn't sound like Snagglepus. Charlie had a rough go of it tonight. He didn't win the shortcut challenge, which led to an inevitable display of petty jealousy towards the winner Dee. Even worse, at the elimination challenge, he ended up ... in the bottom three. Jaclyn Smith was especially stern with him, telling him that if had not had immunity, he might be going home. He looked crestfallen, but I have a feeling that next week, he'll be back to cutting hair and cutting down the other stylists. So, all three of our out stylists are safe, which means that Meredith got the boot for her "squid"-like cut (which was really horrific). All in all, it wasn't a bad week. Paulo managed to improve, and Charlie finally got taken down a few pegs. Next week promises something that Paulo describes as "dirty", and takes place on the beach. Could it be a Baywatch reunion? Charlie's super villian act
has gotten really tired. I'm getting kind of sick of him.
I like Meredith though I think she deserved to go home--this style was really bad.
Dee's crush on the straight girl is a little creepy.
Dee
you're probably right...
I really don't have a problem with Dee
I love Rene -- I can't stop
