"Step It Up & Dance" (1.08): The "Rained Out" recaplet

It was yet another hip-hop (or as adorable Oscar put it, "heep-hop") challenge this week, and once again, Oscar, and Snicks were out of their element. The challenge centered on recreating a dance for something called Umbrella, which was apparently a popular song last year (I only listen to 80's music, so I'll have to take their word for it...although I have to say that it's a sad day in music when one of the biggest pop songs of the decade consists of saying "Umbrella-ella-ella-aah-aah-aah"). Personally, I can't wait for the follow-up "Golashes-shes-shes-ooh-ooh-ooh". The guest judge this week was Tina Landon, who's one of the most famous music video choreographers, although I checked her bio, and it's just boring stuff like Livin La Vida Loca. Now if they were to get the people responsible for choreographing true classics like The Bangles' Walk Like An Egyptian or Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield, then I'd really be impressed.
Nick (who after tonight will become my new favorite), and Pretty Boy Cody are made the team captains, and once again, poor Oscar is chosen last. Each team practices their routines, and it's clear that Janelle is fed up with taking orders from Cody, because she's all about the sassback tonight (could the air of invicibility around Cody be vanishing?) The two teams perform, and Nick wins his first competition (he's elated, and I'm really warming up to him, though i still think he resembles a buffer, better looking Screech).
How did our gays do? One is safe, and one ends up in the bottom two.

Here we go again...Miguel has found another dance form that is "perfect" for him (strange how all these many competitions are "perfect" for him, yet he's only won one of them). He really went off the deep end in praising himself this time, though:
"This is a world that I bathe in. I will be Tina Landon. My genius is at her stature."
"I slammed my performance. I was living with this umbrella, it was like an extension of who I was...like this hair."
Miguel was obviously crushed at not being chosen team captain, and disappointed that he didn't win the competition, although he did survive another week, so if anyone has a right to be crushed...it's us.
See how Oscar did, and find out who was eliminated after the break

Oscar, Oscar, Oscar. Well, it was nice having him back. He knew he was in trouble right from the get go, when he realized it was going to be another heep-hop challenge. He gave it his all, though, and i thought he had a shot at staying, until I saw that he was in the bottom two with Janelle. There's no way they would let one of two remaining women go, so Oscar didn't stand a chance. What I absolutely love is that he refused to do another "last dance" performance, having already been through that indignity once.
So...once again, we're back to one gay, and it's Miguel. All of the dancers are told to go home, and come up with a solo dance for the next time they're all together. Gee, with all of the dances Miguel is "perfect" at, he's going to have a hard time choosing.
