Out celebrities and gay allies came out for the 9th Annual Trevor Project New York Summer Gala last night in NYC, and amidst the glamour and glitz was an underlying message of hope and compassion.

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts, and operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline, for GLBT youth.

Below you can see a sampling of some of some of the stars who came out to shine. *WARNING - Cheyenne Jackson Alert!.

    Another vote for Meghan

There's nothing quite like a Republican discovering sanity.

    Meghan

Such a nice-seeming girl.  She's young and very inexperienced now, but at the rate she's going, she could have leader potential in her.  Not to mention, she'll look a whole helluva lot smarter in 10-15 years when GLBT rights are mainstream and all the old "haters" are trying to pretend they never thought that way.

has some potential, but she's still far too green to be booking gigs involving heated political discussions. She was on Real Time With Bill Maher a couple of weeks ago, and showed just how unprepared she is to join the big leagues:

Republican talking points aside, you can't use excuses like "well, I wasn't even born yet," or the please-feel-sorry-for-me "I'm the only Republican on this panel," and expect to be taken seriously.

    HUGE

I too am turning into a HUGE Meghan M fan! There is just something about her!

Gay and lesbian rights are not special rights in any way. It isn't "special" to be free from discrimination. It is an ordinary, universal entitlement of citizenship."
