Watch and Discuss: Is this Pup-Peroni commercial funny, stupid, or offensive?

So I was watching the Dark Angel marathon on Sci-Fi Channel this morning (it was the episode where Original Cindy's ex Diamond tried to rekindle things with her), and I was just getting into the lesbian lovin' when they cut to commercials.

An ad for the dog treat Pup-Peroni came on, and I was immediately taken aback by what I saw. A man dressed in pink was roller-skating next to a poodle in pink highlights, and as he rolled past a woman and her dog, he started singing about "magic butterflies". The woman looked at her dog, who was holding a sign in his mouth that read "That is so wrong".

I was taken aback because it instantly reminded me of the infamous scene in the abysmal 70's film The Choirboys in which a mincing queen with a pink poodle was the brunt of ridicule.

Going to the dogs? The Choirboys and Pup-Peroni

Of course it's possible they weren't going for a gay stereotype here. It could be that the guy is more of a "punk" stereotype, but that doesn't explain all the pink, and the "magic butterflies". Or maybe he's just supposed to represent someone who's "annoying" (which he is).

What do you think? Am I just overreacting, or is there something to my suspicion? Take our poll and let us know!
