Which primetime show should Neil Patrick Harris invade next?

Neil Patrick Harris continues his diabolical plot to take over primetime TV, something we've been meticulously following with a corkboard and push pins in the AfterElton office.

In addition to his role as horndog Barney on How I Met Your Mother, NPH has also recently presided over the 2009 Tony Awards, the 7th Annual TV Land Awards, will host the upcoming Emmy Awards, appeared as himself on Top Chef Masters and Family Guy ... and that's just within the last few months.

Now comes word that NPH is taking the ultimate step ... as a guest judge on American Idol.

So the question we present to you is "What other primetime show would benefit from a touch of NPH?" Here are a few suggestions:

  • Dancing With The Stars: This is a no-brainer, and something NPH would be able to breeze through. And it might get me to actually watch the show.
  • True Blood: For Season Three, NPH can play the love interest of Lafayette. Unfortunately, it'll be revealed that his character is a mythical chupacabra (which explains the drained chickens and goats in the living room).
  • Brothers & Sisters: He'll play yet another long-lost Walker sibling. He'll take one look at that family ... then leave. It'll be hailed as the greatest B & S storyline ever.
  • Gay Survivor: NPH will join such other out primetime stars as Luke MacFarlane and T.R. Knight in a blood-thirsty competition. Okay, actually it'll be to see who's the most adorable.

Those are just a few examples. What shows do you think would benefit from a touch of NPH?

    wow...

besides desperate housewives, DWTS is another show that nobody could get me to watch. I think they need new hosts. that tom bergon or whatever = annoyiiiiing

plus, NPH can do better than DWTS. :-P

    DWTS

DWTS seems to be for people who used to be stars...and even some that never really were.  I like the Gay Survivor idea!!

How about Mad Men??  We know from Barney, he looks good in suits!

    Doogie Howser

Now that medical shows are "en vogue", wouldnt it be great to have him as an adult gay Doggie come to Trauma or Nurse Jackie and to have an arc with the gay characters in those shows. I mean it was Doogie, that would not be much of a strech. Personally , I woud vote for Trauma, a more interesting couple (if rumours are true).

    Doogie meets Jackie

A Nurse Jackie cameo would be inspired.  It would fit in nicely with the show's quirky sense of humor.  NPH playing a character that has an "intimate" moment with Dr. Coop would be hot!  I think there might be more to that Mo Mo kiss than we think.

    For obvious reasons

I'd really like to see NPH and Barrowman on season IV of Torchwood.  Ianto's gone, but as pointed out earlier, NPH looks good in a suit too.

    Awwww!

You beat me to it! NPH on Torchwood would be the best!

    NPH & Barrowman snogging....THUD!

"Dancing With the Stars" would be great

if NPH and David were allowed to compete as a couple.

    The Big Bang Theory!

CBS Crossover!  NPH plays Barney and hooks up with Penny... and is intrigued/ attracted to Sheldon, mainly because he doesn't get the kind of attention from Sheldon that he does from everyone else.  He makes it his mission to woo Sheldon.

    Not primetime but....

...NPH on Ridiculous Drama of The American Teenager Secret Life of the American Teenager. As one of Griffen's gay brothers. :)

I like the idea of TW and NPH... but I'd rather they bring back GDL and have a fling between NPH-character and Ianto. And then we would get to see deadbeat Jack get all jealous.

    variations on a theme

Any combination of NPH on Torchwood with Barrowman getting jealous would be great.  Maybe, NPH can disappear with John Hart?  (after a significant length of time, of course)

OR, for Gay Celebrity Couple Survivor, put the folks someplace dangerous (Temple Square in Utah comes to mind...) and as part of their challenges the should cook a gourment meal for a "legal" wedding, design a dress in 12 hours, eat a bug, and then Ballroom Dance.  The couples that make it through would then have to race to the next dangerous destination (a gay bar in Fort Worth comes to mind...).  I'd watch it. :-)

    Yes, in general...

It would be fun to see JB get jealous of NPH in any context.

NPH on "Torchwood" would be great only if --

he and Barrowman get to sing Sondheim.

Just thought of a "Big Bang Theory" scenario for NPH

NPH (as his real as opposed to Harold and Kumar self) makes a personal appearance at the comic book story to autography copies of a new Dr. Horrible comic book. Leonard (Jim Parsons) spots David Burtka and while the others are busy with Neal makes a pass -- and a date to meet him later.

The rest of the show is a war of wits (and words) between Leonard and NPH to win David.
