AfterElton Briefs: The Eyes of Lady Gaga, Great News for the Ali Forney Center, GLAAD's CNN Call to Action, and More!

Happy 35th Birthday to Danny Pintauro

  • In a step that's long overdue, GLAAD has issued a Call to Action against CNN for turning to the anti-gay industry for "balance" every time they air a segment with gay interest. "All too frequently, the network doesn't book these people because they provide any actual expertise or experience on issues that impact GLBT people; their only qualification is they are anti-gay."
  • TLC will premiere the one hour special Ted Haggard: Scandalous on Sunday, January 16th at 10 PM EST. "The eye-opening special will expose and follow the fascinating, compelling, emotional and controversial journey from the day Haggard announced the opening of his new ministry - St. James Church - located in Colorado Springs, the town he had been kicked out of once his double life was uncovered."
  • Sherri Shepherd has announced her engagement. Would someone please remind me not to watch The View when it comes back from hiatus on Monday? I have a feeling it'll be nothing but shrieks and squeals.
  • Below you can see R&B singer Marsha Ambrosius take on gay-bashing, homophobia, and suicide in the video for her song "Far Away." It's an important message, but would any music video channel play it?

  • Katy Perry will guest star on an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother. Presumably without something exploding out of her breasts.
  • In wonderful news, The New York City Council has reversed the spending reductions to homeless youth programs, and fully restored the funding, including for The Ali Forney Center.
  • Suze Orman is the latest gay to get a timeslot on OWN. The financial guru will host a show in which she, get this, helps people out of their financial problems.
  • Gaga Daily has pics and a clip of Lady Gaga making an appearance at The Oak Room in NYC last night, and the comments are filled with fans debating her blond eyebrows. Yay or nay?
