AfterElton Briefs: Sir Charles Rules, A First Glimpse at Elton's Baby, Anderson Cooper on Broadway, and More!

  • Above you can see the first pic of Elton and David's baby. I could have lived without the bottom quote, but they missed out on a golden opportunity by not making it, "He shot out like a rocket, man."
  • Below you can see the accompanying video, which features host Layla Anna-Lee, who can make everything sound salacious just with her accent. When she says, "thrashing" I expected her to follow it with, "you naughty, naughty boy!."

  • Speaking of coming out, we interviewed Paranormal State host Ryan Buell last year after he came out as bi, and below you can see him talk to Popnography about his reasons for going public ... and about that ghost stuff.

  • So who should replace the retiring Regis Philbin? Well, since he's a workhorse anyway, and is witty and charming and has great chemistry with Kelly, the only answer is ... Live! With Neil Patrick and Kelly.
  • GLAAD has weighed in on the box office bombing of The Dilemma, and they say basically the same thing that I did: Gay karma's a bitch. Okay, actually the reason it failed probably has more to do with the fact that it stinks on ice, but still.
  • Music industry legend Don Kirshner has died at the age of 77. Another piece of my youth is gone. One of the first memories I have as a wee snicks is sneaking downstairs late at night and watching Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. I distinctly remember seeing two of my all-time favorite groups for the first time - Heart and Rush. Oh well, at least I still have the King Biscuit Flower Hour.
  • Towleroad has video of Charles Barkley on the TNT tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr during the pre-game show to the Celtics-Magic game. Charles took the opportunity to make this remarkable and heartfelt statement: "You know, people try to make it about black and white. He talked about equality for every man, every woman. We have a thing going on now — people discriminating against homosexuality in this country. I love the homosexuality people. God bless the gay people. They are great people." Okay, so "homosexuality people" is a bit awkward, but Charles deserves to be commended for using that forum to spread a message of acceptance.

  • Above you can see a behind-the-scenes look at Anderson Cooper as he prepares to make his Broadway debut as the voice of the narrator in the upcoming revival of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
  • Guitarist Slash, who hasn't been relevant since about 1992, was asked how he would feel if Glee wanted to do a Guns N Roses song: "Actually, we got asked about that once already but it got turned down. In the current climate of what’s going on in entertainment these days, I try to be more optimistic than negative because it’s really easy to get negative about it, but I draw the line at Glee. Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough…. When Grease came out I was like, 'Oh, c’mon, give me a break.' Actually, I look at Grease now and think: Between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a brilliant work of art."
  • This from a man who played guitar on a song with the lyrics "Immigrants and faggots, they make no sense to me. They come to our country and think they'll do as they please. Like start some mini Iran, or spread some f**king disease." Hey, now that's "art!"
