AfterElton Briefs: Remembering Reid Oliver, the New Catwoman, Bad News for "Undertow," and More!

Happy 31st Birthday to maximum hottie Luke Macfarlane!

  • Today marks a bittersweet anniversary for gay visibility on daytime TV. On January 19, 2010, Eric Sheffer Stevens made his first appearance as Dr. Reid Oliver on As The World Turns. You can see scenes from the episode below, and it's a strange experience watching it after all this time, with Reid firing insults from the get-go, Noah cursing the darkness, Luke having an awesomely bad hair day (at one point two hair tendrils cover his eyes, ala Medusa), and he, Lily and Damien as one big happy family. Those were the days.

  • Okay, in the header i mentioned the new Catwoman, but the facts are still a bit sketchy. Anne Hathaway has joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises as Selina Kyle, who is the alter ego of Catwoman, but the scuttlebutt is that they may go back to the character's roots, as a cat burglar but without the mask or costume. This will not do. I love Anne as Selina/Catwoman, but they have to put her gorgeous body in the costume.
  • Speaking of gorgeous bodies, also joining the cast is Tom Hardy, who will play Bane, who I always thought had a huge wrestlers body, so Tom may have to bulk up for the role.

Happy 65th Birthday to the incomparable Dolly Parton!

  • Below you can see Anderson Cooper call out Dr. Laura on her asshatness. I love it when AC shows attitude. I think he should change the name of the segment from "The Ridiculist" to "Hooker, Please!"

  • As we reported back in November, the next edition of The Amazing Race will be an all-star version, and will include Margie and her deaf, gay son Luke, and the gay father and son team of Mike and Mel. Below you can see Luke and Margie talk about losing the race, and what they learned from it.

  • And here's Mike and Mel vowing to step up their game when they return. The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business begins Sunday, February 20th at 8 PM EST.
