AfterElton Briefs: Ryan Murphy vs Kings of Leon, Cher's Twitter Fury, Updating the Elton "Cover-Up," and More!

Happy 53rd Birthday to Ellen!
- The Hollywood Bowl has announced their 2011 season, and July 29-30 will see Michael Feinstein take the stage with guests Florence Henderson, Cheyenne Jackson, Dick Van Dyke and Vanessa Williams. Eclectic!
- GLAAD has updates about the supermarket that shielded the Elton US Weekly cover. There are a lot of conflicting reports.
- Speaking of GLAAD, president Jarret Barrios penned an article for Huff Post titled "For Leno, Gay People Continue to be a Punchline."
- In yesterday's Oscar nom article, I mentioned that I was most bummed that the Burlesque song "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me" wasn't nominated. It appears I'm not the only one. And if you diss Cher on Twitter, you'd better be prepared for her wrath!

- CBS has renewed daytime gabfest The Talk for another season. I admit I love the show even with their obvious disdain for childless people.
- TV Line talks to Kevin Alejandro about last night's Southland and the upcoming season of True Blood.
- Okay, so where do you stand on the whole Ryan Murphy vs Kings of Leon war? Ryan had some harsh, expletive-laden words for the band for refusing the use of their songs. The band responded with "We just said no to a license for a TV show, which we do a lot.” But ... they didn't have a problem licensing their songs to Gossip Girl and a Jetta commercial? They have a right to do whatever they want with their songs, but I think the "we don't want to sell out" ship has sailed. On the other hand, Ryan may have been a tad over-dramatic.
- STOP THE PRESS! Now comes word that the drummer for Kings of Leon tweeted this unfortunate dig: "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go, See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7yr olds how to say f**k." He removed the tweet, but followed it up later with this apology

- 31 quotes from Michelle Bachman. Weep for us, world.
- Below you can see Jon Stewart give Oscar hosting pointers to nominee James Franco. I don't think I've ever seen James be more adorable than here, maybe because he's toned down the eccentricities.
