AfterElton Briefs: "Sex & The City: The Prequel," The Doritos Hunk Speaks, "Glee" Rocks the Ratings, and More!

Happy Birthday to gold-medal Olympian Mark Tewksbury. The out Canadian turns 43 today

  • NPR has an audio interview with Ricky Martin about the difficulties of translating songs from English to Spanish, and vice-versa.
  • Dragon Age: Origins broke new ground in gaming when it allowed same-sex elf/human canoodling, and let you have steamy sex with thong clad male hookers (I spent too much time reloading save points trying to have sex with all of them). Now it appears that the upcoming Dragon Age 2 will continue that tradition: "Players can also initiate brief cutscene sequences in which couples (male-female or same-sex) are shown kissing and embracing one another in a bedroom as the screen fades to black."
  • Below you can see NoMoreDownLow.tv talk to out personal trainer George King about the controversy surrounding that Doritos "sauna" commercial. George did it just to help out the friend of a client, not imagining the ad would cause such backlash.

  • From the "flogging a dead horse" department comes word that Michael Patrick King may go back to the Sex & The City well again, this time with a prequel. Someone named Blake Lively is rumored to be in the running for the role of young Carrie Bradshaw as she makes the move from Connecticut to NYC. Here's an idea, Michael. Write a good script for the real ladies so we can forget the last film ever happened.
  • Speaking of which, she can't hold it any longer.

  • Greg in Hollywood has excerpts from the Lauren Bacall interview in Vanity Fair. Lauren tells a story about when Noel Coward came on to her husband Humphrey Bogart, but she becomes incensed when the reporter brings up the story that Truman Capote told about him and Humphrey, and a ... certain sex act.
  • A few weeks back I told you about the casting call for Under the Boardwalk, the gay version of Jersey Shore. The first open casting call happened over the weekend, with dozens of GLBT people trying out to be the next Snooki.
  • Debra Messing is returning to TV in a show set in NYC in which she'll co-star with a gay ... male ... character. Hmm, that sounds vaguely familiar. The hour long drama Smash "follows a cross section of characters who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway. At the heart of the show are the musical's composer Tom, who is gay, and the lyricist Julia (Messing), who is somewhat against the idea of a Marilyn Monroe-themed musical."
