• In ratings news, last night's The Voice was NBC’s highest-rated regular non-sports telecast on any night in more than four years. Smash was the third-highest-rated new drama series premiere this season, and quadrupled NBC's season average ratings in its time slot. However ... there was a 19% slide from the first to second half hour, so next week's ratings will tell the story.

• Tony Shalhoub and the faboo Alllison Janney will star in the NBC Pilot Friday Night Dinner, about "a quirky family that has dinner together every Friday night."
