AfterElton Briefs: Daytime Emmy Pre-Pre-Noms, Matthew Mitcham Keeps it Simple, The GLAAD Media Awards, and More!

Happy 62nd Birthday to supreme gay ally Judith Light

  • The pre-pre-noms for the Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced, in which actors submit themselves for award recognition. The good news is that As The World Turns' Eric Sheffer Stevens put himself in for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Reid. Inexplicably, Van Hansis did not enter his name for playing Luke, who had wonderful scenes as he dealt with Reid's death.
  • The list also does not include either Scott Evans or Brett Claywell for Supporting Actor for playing Fish and Kyle on One Life To Live, but at least the faboo (a word I've decided to use at least once a day) Florencia Lozano (Tea), and Ilene Kristen (Roxy) are in the running. And I'm also thrilled that Stacy Haiduk is in the mix for for her role as Crazy Stuffed Cat Lady on The Young & The Restless. (h/t to LoveLure)
  • Adam Lambert will release the CD/DVD "Glam Nation Live" on March 22nd. It was shot in Indianapolis, Indiana at Clowes Hall on August 31st, 2010, and features 12 tracks plus a bonus cut.

  • Chris Geidner at Metro Weekly takes a look at GOProud's involvement with CPAC. Chris is a great writer, but I do have issues with the piece (for starters, it makes that horrible Andrew Breitbart look almost noble for embracing the gays.)

  • Little by little, trickle by trickle, we're seeing more and more pro sports stars come out in support of gay teammates. This time it's German soccer goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who says, "Yes, those who are homosexual should say so. That would take a load off their minds. And the fans would get over it quickly. What is important to them, is the performances on the pitch of the player, not his sexual preferences."
  • Anderson Cooper interviews Lady Gaga on Sunday night's 60 Minutes, and below you can see a small snippet, as she reveals how to properly address her ... in bed.

  • The GLAAD Media Award nominations have been announced. Ricky Martin will receive the Vito Russo Award for promoting equality of the GLBT community March 19 at the NYC portion of the event, hosted by Andy Cohen. Kristin Chenoweth will receive the Vanguard Award in Los Angeles on April 10th
  • Finally, here's Matthew Mitcham being all adorable and hot with his megawatt smile and sparkling eyes. And he has a message about being gay at Mardi Gras ... or something. I wasn't paying attention due to his body glowing like a thousand suns.
