AfterElton Briefs: The TV Land Awards, Adam Lambert Talks Dirty, "And Tango Makes Three" Reclaims the Throne, and More!

Happy 33rd birthday to Brett Claywell, still our favorite guy in scrubs.

  • Good news for fans of Desperate Housewives. All four leading ladies have signed on for an eighth season, with an option for a ninth. And Vanessa Williams has also re-upped for next year, so the show will remain watchable.
  • Speaking of renewals, EW.com has a scorecard of which shows are sure things to return, and which are "iffy." Brothers & Sisters is still on the second list.
  • The TV Land Awards were filmed over the weekend, and usually I'd be squeeing all over the place looking at the pics. I'll still watch the program when it airs on TV Land on April 17th, but I'm just not as interested as I was say, two years ago when the planets aligned and we got NPH hosting, a Knot's Landing reunion, and a tribute to Sid & Marty Krofft that included Cyndi Lauper performing the theme song to Electra-Woman and Dyna Girl.
  • But I digress. This year will see tributes to The Cosby Show and Family Ties, neither of which I was a big fan of, as well as John Travolta in a reunion of Welcome Back, Kotter. As much as I'd love to see Horshack again, I generally try to avoid anything with Travolta. For me, the reason for watching is the Facts of Life reunion. Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields, Charlotte Rae, Geri Jewell, Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon, and Cloris Leachman will all be on hand to accept the Pop Culture Award, and I can already feel myself getting verklempt. Unfortunately, Mackenzie Astin and that girl who played Pippa weren't on hand, but thankfully, neither was George Clooney.

  • Pet Shop Boys will release their new single "Together" tomorrow, and below you can listen to the "Pepptalk" remix.

  • Woo-Hoo! And Tango Makes Three has reclaimed the top spot in the annual American Libraries Association most-challenged books list. Queer birds rule!
  • We'll be streaming the NewNowNext Awards on AfterElton later tonight, but in the meantime here's an interview with Adam Lambert from backstage at the event. He talks about Paula Abdul, his Finnish boyfriend, “slaloming," and his upcoming album.

  • Finally, below you can see the Rutgers Student Film Void, which was inspired by the Tyler Clementi tragedy.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
