AfterElton Briefs: The Honey Badgerette, Drew Barrymore Directs Our Teen Wolf, Baltimore Orioles Say "It Gets Better," and More!

Happy 39th Birthday to Elizabeth Berkley, and 42nd Birthday to Alexis Arquette

  • Lee Pace has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln. I love that the title refers to him as "Twilight Saga actor." Seriously? Because when I think of Lee's resume, Twilight is not the first thing that springs to mind.
  • L.A. indie band Best Coast have landed Drew Barrymore as a director for their next music video. The song is called "Our Deal" and the video features Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), and a brilliantined* Tyler Posey (star of Teen Wolf) channeling Danny Zucko. The production has a very cool fifties vibe to it. We've got a sneak peak below. Full video comes out next Tuesday! (*Thanks To Dennis Ayers for coining a new word!)

  • Degrassi writer Samir Rehem has been chosen to adapt Chuck Palahniuk's pre-Fight Club novel Invisible Monsters for the big screen. It's a road trip between a transgender person and a model who's missing the lower half of her face after being shot.
  • Below you can see the Honey Badgerette of New Zealand, who don't give a sh*t, but bears a striking resemblance to a certain Warrior Princess.

  • The Goddess joined Maroon 5 at The Hollywood Bowl to perform "Leather & Lace." I take back all the mean things I said about Adam Levine.
  • Below you can see members of The Baltimore Orioles with their "It Gets Better" vid. Unlike a lot of these sports team clips, they actually say "LGBT."

  • nextmovie.com interviews Neil Patrick Harris about his Smurf name and how he managed the transition from child star when so many others could not.
  • Speaking of The Smurfs, um ... I gave this info to Ed yesterday, but for some reason he didn't include it in the meme this morning. The movie is working a 0% on the Tomato Meter. *Hey, what the Smurf is going on? Yesterday, it was 0%, but today it's jumped to 5%, yet I can't find the mysterious one good review. My favorite blurb is from the great Alonso Duralde: "Does for children's entertainment what lead paint does for children's toys." *Edit #2 - It now has two positive reviews, thanks to NPH.
  • Finally, I have an URGENT MESSAGE for Michael Jensen, Brent Hartinger, and anyone living in the American Northwest. I was watching Mega Quakes on The Science Channel today and they discussed Seattle's Alaska Way Aquaduct, which they call the most dangerous roadway in America if there's an earthquake. Do not use it!

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
