AfterElton Briefs: Ann Coulter is Judy Garland, Bryan Safi Takes on Sissy Commercials, "Burlesque" Gets a Trailer, and More!

Plus Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert take on Prop 8, hot ruggers, Barney Frank on Kathy Griffin, and Happy Birthday, Federbear!

The Friday Briefs are going to be a bit different going forward. From now on, last week's caption pic and winner will be at the top of the page, and a new caption pic will be at the bottom. Here's last week's winner!

Thanks to everyone for participating! Thanks for keeping this PG-13, because this pic was just crying out for smut! And the winner is ...

"The newest additions to the sex offender registry - indecent exposure and elaborately photoshoped leg muscles."

Thanks to Libertylove for this week's winning caption.

A Big Birthday Cupcake goes out to Roger Federer, who celebrates his 29th this weekend!

  • Rugger Icon Gareth Thomas admits to briefly questioning publicly coming out after the homophobic taunts that were flung at him by fans during a match. "For a second, I did question whether I'd done the right thing by coming out. But afterwards I thought 'If I have to go through this every weekend we are away, then I will'. I wasn't going to let some group of people ruin my career or let me finish on a sour note."
  • Speaking of ruggers we love, gay ally Ben Cohen has thrown his meaty thighs behind England's Gay Sports Day. "I am happy to support this year’s GMFA/RVT Gay Sports Day. Sport is an important part of my life and it’s great to see a community come together and enjoy sport in such a fun and accessible way. Plus it raises vital funds for the important work carried out by GMFA and the other charities which will benefit from the day."

Gareth and Ben: Hotness Overload!

  • Speaking of hot athletes, Out Gold Olympian Mark Tewksbury has been named Canada’s chef de mission for the London 2012 Games. The chef de mission is selected by the Canadian Olympic Committee as the official representative and spokesperson of the Canadian Olympic Team. Congratulations, Mark!
  • Below you can see Bryan Safi skewer all those so-called "manly" commercials. It's another brilliant commentary, especially the Arby's bit.

  • Well, you knew that The Daily Show and The Colbert Report would provide their own unique takes on the overturning of Prop 8, and last night both shows provided plenty of snarky goodness. The Daily Show's segment was called "Californiagaytion," and any time they take on CNN's enjoyably inept Rick Sanchez ... it's gold.

  • Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert is outraged over the decision, and has come up with a solution: Ruin all gay marriages!

  • Did you know that Ann Coulter is the "Right Wing Judy Garland?" It's true, according to GOProud, who have named her as host of Homicon 2010, which takes place September 25th in NYC. You know what, I don't think there's any snark I can add to this. It already reads like a leftover from The Onion.

Another Big Birthday Cupcake to Michael Urie, who turns 30 this weekend!

  • Finally, we've been patiently waiting, biding our time , and now ... IT'S HERE! Yes, the first official trailer for the Cher/Xtina film Burlesque, and it's SPECTACULAR! And you can take that however you like.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Here's your caption pic for the week. Drop your caption ideas in the comments (And please remember to keep the captions PG-13!)
