AfterElton Briefs: Adam Lambert Caught With Jake Shears, "Glee" Premiere Party Livecast, and Lady Gaga Feeds Her Little Monsters

Plus Gary Shadix gets his own Handbook for the Recently Deceased, Spain's gay lottery, and Glenn Beck became a Mormon to get laid.

Oddly, Katy and I share a facial expression right now.

  • When Adam Lambert tweeted out the above picture over the weekend, it didn't have much context. Now we know it's from the latest Scissor Sister news broadcast. I still don't know why Katy Perry was in frame, but I do know that Adam and Jake Shears really sold the make out session that preceeded this photo.
  • Now that Russell Eddington has gotten it on with a hustler in bed and shown some flesh, the always industrious folks at Camp Blood have added him to their popular True Blood Paper Doll Series, complete with crystal urn for carrying Talbott.
  • Glee is having a premiere party tonight, and there are plans to livestream the event at 6 PM PST via Facebook. Tune in to see which blue shirt Chris Colfer wears!

I'm a little unclear where this photo of the Glee girls is from - does it have a guys match?

  • Oklahoma journalism student Ricky Maranon is accusing The Advocate of ripping off his story about that state's attempt to exempt themselves from federal hate crimes legislation. He seems more indignant about a lack of attribution than anything else - and I don't blame him.
  • Reader Bill tips us that out actor Glenn Shadix, best known as the interior decorator in Beetlejuice has passed away at the age of 58. Our condolences to his friends and family.
  • As an American, some of the European-style lotteries confuse me. Ours are state run businesses operating in perpetuity. Meanwhile, Europe creates new ones, and specific designees for some of the receipts. Now Spain is rumored to be starting a "gay lottery" for the holidays, with 80% of the take going to GLBT causes.
  • Sunday, September 5th marked the beginning of National Suicide Prevention Week. If you need help, please, call the Trevor Project, or somebody. There is hope and help.

  • Rick Santorum was one of the first on the political right to compare marriage equality to "man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be." In response, Dan Savage set up a rather vulgar website making a play on his bigotry. Years later, as Santorum mulls a Presidential bid, he faces a huge uphill battle to get a Google search on his name to bring up anything but the vulgar parody. In the words of AfterElton editor Michael Jensen Bwa ha ha!
  • The Kennedy Center Honors were announced today, and in addition to names everyone knows like Oprah, Paul McCartney, and Merle Haggard. other honorees include out choreographer Bill T. Jones (La Cage Aux Folles) and composer Jerry Herman (Fela!) will be honored at the ceremony December 5th, airing on CBS December 28th.
  • Lady Gaga tweeted out this Vogue Hommes Japan cover. She's wearing meat. I have no idea what it means, but I do know that this is one costume she'll not get to wear a second time.
I never know what her outfits mean anymore. It's all so random.
