AfterElton Briefs: Prince Poppycock Reigns Supreme, Tim Gunn Bravely Disses Anna Wintour, and Get To Know A-Lister Mike Ruiz

Plus 50 Cent "jokes" about anti-gay violence, Xbox Live censors Ft. Gay, and Ben Cohen supports gay rugby.

Tyra Banks & Andre Leon Talley Celebrate America's Next Top Model Premiere
and compare who has the best legs

  • A French amateur soccer club is under fire for refusing to register a gay member to the team because two of the players objected to his sexuality. Paris Foot Gay is calling for sanctions. Last year the league expelled a Muslim team for refusing to play a gay team. h/t csc68
  • Last night on America's Got Talent, Prince Poppycock did not disappoint with his salute to all things American. From his costume to choice of music to pictures of Harvey Milk and his own face on $3 bills, a gay ol' time was had by all.

  • Hunky Ben Cohen joined Manchester's bid to host the Bingham World Cup. Appearing with Manchester's gay rugby team the Village Spartans, he acknowledged his gay fans and expressed hope his city could host. "This is an opportunity for me to give a bit back and make sure the gay rugby World Cup comes to Manchester. I was quite chuffed to be asked to give my support and I am looking forward to being able to support the event if the guys are successful."
  • Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice held a press conference to apologize for using "Suck on that, faggots" to celebrate the Wallabies victory over South Africa. She broke down in tears twice. Thus far, she's only lost her Jaguar sponsorship over the slur. Ironically, the team she was celebrating, the Wallabies have been at the forefront of the This Is Oz campaign against homophobia.
  • Last night on The Daily Show, Tim Gunn stopped by to pimp his new book, but mostly he ripped on Vogue editrix Anna Wintour for being carried down the stairs at a fashion event. He said the only form of retraction he was willing to give the prickly diva was that "he was sorry she couldn't work a pair of Manolos."

  • Not far from home, an Xbox Live subscriber was blocked from the service for several days after entering his hometown as "Ft. Gay, WV." The supervisor at Microsoft initially refused to believe him that there was a town with that name. If only there was an online map service, called, oh, Bing he could have checked. Next time maybe he'll just Google it.
  • Last night when he wasn't drinking Grey Goose with a gray goose, Stephen Colbert was discussing politics with the out head of the ACLU, Anthony Romero. And naturally gay rights came up.

  • Inspector Seymore Pines led the infamous raid against the Stonewall Inn that kicked off the modern gay rights movement. He passed away Thursday at age 91. He wasn't necessarily bad, just a product of his times, and hardly the man in charge, later reflecting "If what I did helped gay people, then I’m glad."
  • Logo sent over a new clip from The A List: New York. This is an introductory clip for photographer Mike Ruiz, perhaps one of the more relateable personalities on the show.

  • I'm seldom one to take Pink Satan's side in anything, but 50 Cent has gone too far with what he considers "a joke" with Perez. With 50 Cent's violent (and self-professed) history involving so many gunshots, this isn't funny at all. Now that GLAAD has Dan Hampton sorted...

I'm not amused by rap stars joking about randomly shooting gays.

  • His death threats have not yet been translated by "English 50 Cent," which is a Twitter account that turns the rapper's ramblings into the Queen's English.
