AfterElton Briefs: The Rock Hall Nominees, Steve Jones on "Ellen," "Ringer" Rings Up A Few More Viewers, and More!

Jonathan Groff tucks it in at the opening night of The Submission

  • Happy 47th Birthday to Janeane Garofalo, 44th Birthday to Mira Sorvino, 43rd Birthday to Naomi Watts, 24th Birthday to Hilary Duff, and Happy 51st Birthday to Jennifer Rush. The American-born Jennifer has had her greatest success outside of the U.S., where's she's best known for co-writing and singing the definitive version of "The Power Of Love." Yes, I said definitive.

  • Do you think that when Trey Parker and Matt Stone were first cutting up construction paper to make Cartman, they ever believed that one day they'd be the subject of a 60 Minutes segment? Well, here they are, talking about South Park and The Book of Mormon.
  • The 2012 nominees for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced, with five acts to be chosen from these 15 choices: Beastie Boys, The Cure, Donovan, Eric B. & Rakim, Guns N’ Roses, Heart, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rufus with Chaka Khan, The Small Faces/The Faces, The Spinners, Donna Summer and War. What would your choices be? For me, it would be Heart, Joan Jett, Donna Summer, The Cure, and Laura Nyro. And once again, no Linda Ronstadt or solo Stevie?

  • Sean Hayes' production company has sold an untitled Western project to NBC: "It's Set in the 1880s and centers on Jacob Morris, a young, eccentric East Coast doctor of mental disorders who moves to a primitive Western town at the foot of the Colorado Rockies."
  • Below you can see a preview of next week's Glee.

  • In good news, The CW's Ringer managed a small increase in ratings.
  • Below you can see Alyssa Rodemeyer talk to Anderson Cooper about her late brother Jamey, and the despicable taunts she had to endure when she went to her homecoming dance.

  • Media Matters has a thorough history and takedown of Keith Ablow's quackery.
  • Here's a video that would make Ablow's head explode (if only). CNN's report on transgender kids. (h/t to gunners)

  • Below you can see the trailer for Paranormal Activity 3. It's just more of the same, but it did make me giggle, so I'll give it that. I'm not sure that's what they intended, though.
