AfterElton Briefs: New "Glee" Rocky Horror Pics, Bishop Robinson Scolds Religious Leaders, and For Adam Lambert, It Gets Better

Ryan Reynolds accepts "Most Anticipated Movie" He has an odd undies situation going on.

  • Modern Family has already been sold into broadcast syndication and will appear on Fox-owned stations in major markets. Financial details aren't available, since Fox sold the series to itself, but it was expected to be in the same record-setting range as The Big Bang Theory, which also went to Fox.
  • You still have time to go shopping for something purple to wear on Spirit Day, which is Wednesday, October 20 and is intended to remember all the teens we lost to suicide. GLAAD has a simple way you can purple-spirit your Twitter and Facebook avatars for the event.
Not long ago I had a conversation with six gay teens, not one of whom had ever had any formal religious training or influence. Every one of them knew the word "abomination," and every one of them thought that was what God thought of them. They couldn't have located the Book of Leviticus in the Bible if their lives depended on it yet they had absorbed this message from the antigay air they breathe every day.
  • As long as we're on the subject, Adam Lambert wants everyone out there to know that yes, yes it does get so much better.

  • The cover of the new issue of Tetu is NSFW, but in addition to the model with the incredible rear end, French actress Catherine Deneuve is draped over his shoulder in a very casual way. It turns out the model is a fan, because who wouldn't be?
  • Ross Matthews doesn't seem to recognize that he's become a celebrity in his own right. He recounts meeting Meryl, Oprah, and Anne Bancroft, but most amusing was his encounter Anderson Cooper at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
I stalked the silverest of all foxes. … When I tapped him on the shoulder to introduce myself, he turned around and shrieked: “Ross!! I love you!!” He knew who i was?!? It was a major diaper moment for me.
  • A University of Wisconsin professor that responded to a request to hang a GLBT film festival poster with a rant of "homosexual behavior damages its participants, their loved ones, and the communities that sanction it" from his university email account will be "reprimanded" for the tirade.
  • I think everyone should take a few minutes and watch this interview with Rudolf Brazda, the last known surviving "pink triangle" from the Nazi concentration camps.

  • Perhaps unsurprisingly, a gay dad in Texas has been told he can't be a scout leader any more. They'll still happily let him raise money for the troop though. He's now suing the school district to stop them from letting the hate group use public facilities free of charge.
  • Andrew Sullivan has been serving up The Daily Dish for ten years now. The original gay conservative says that in modern day America, he's a man without a political home. I'll give him major points for coming out and apologizing for having gotten Iraq wrong so long ago. I'm still waiting for some others to apologize for that.
  • Gene Simmons remains blissfully unaware of the nasty homophobic things that come out of his mouth. Having already said that Adam Lambert should have stayed in the closet, he's going to war with file sharers, and hopes to put them in jail where "they might find their little butts in jail, right next to someone who's been there for years and is looking for a new girl friend."  Because prison rape is justice, Gene? For what it's worth, the Internet is not amused.
  • "Love only happens when you're not looking for it." It does, however, sometimes happen when you're just looking for a quick hookup.

  • GLAAD's Senior Director of Programs, Rashad Robinson has been named one of the Top 100 emerging and established African-American leaders in The Root 100. Congratulations!
  • Researchers point out that while there is certainly a higher likelihood of bullying of gay teens, the widely-cited statistic of one-third of all teenage suicides involving gay teens is a result of bad math.

Happy 54th birthday to Martina Navratilova.

  • Gareth Thomas is lending his name and celebrity to keeping Cardiff's Kings Cross bar gay, rather than see it turned into a gastropub by the owners. He wants to preserve the establishment's 137-year history.
