AfterElton Briefs: Ryan Murphy Pre-Defends Tonight's "Glee," Brett Ratner Is Out Of The Oscars, "AbFab: The Movie," and More!

- Birthday shoutouts! Sam Sparro (above) is 29, Craig Chester is 46, Chi-Ch LaRue is 52, Parker Posey is 43, Rickie Lee Jones is 57, Matthew Rhys is 37, and the faboo Bonnie Raitt is 62. Time to name your top five Bonnie songs! Here are mine: 5. "Love Sneakin' Up On You," 4. "No Way To Treat A Lady," 3. "Nick Of Time," 2. "Stand Up To The Night" (From Extremities), and #1 (and one of my favorite songs from the barren landscape of 90's pop music) ...
- In case you haven't heard, tonight's episode of Glee is a biggie, and Ryan Murphy talks to EW.com about the skyrockets in flight :
“We were talking about it [in the writers’ room] like, ‘Why shouldn’t [Kurt and Blaine] lose their virginity at the same time?’” Murphy tells EW exclusively. “Everybody has seen a straight couple losing their virginity, but has anyone dovetailed the gay and straight stories together and given them equal weight? That seemed like an exciting choice and a new thing.” According to Murphy, the four actors’ only worry was that they look good in the love scenes: “The first thing they all said was ‘Do we have to go on diets?’”
- After Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives, ABC wants to hold onto Vanessa Williams, and she'll headline a new hourlong or half-hour project next fall. Smart move, ABC.
- Not only will three new Absolutely Fabulous specials air on Logo (our parent company), but Jennifer Saunders is planning a movie version of the iconic comedy. "Ab Fab: The Movie will kick off with Patsy and Edina waking up hungover in the empty drifting yacht of an oligarch in the middle of the ocean."
- Bleeding Cool has a first look at Robert Pattinson in the David Cronenberg film version of Cosmopolis

- Fat Guy has wrapped for now, and you can watch the entire first season online. Below you can see struggling actor Caskey introduced to potential new boyfriend Greg.
- The nominations for The People's Choice Awards have been announced, with Glee receiving the most, including nods for Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch.
- The Motion Picture Academy will not take action against Brett Ratner, but they did wag their finger and say, "It better not happen again, by golly!." UPDATE! Ratner has resigned as Oscar producer.
- Here's a J. Edgar Hoover primer. (h/t Crawfish Po Boy)
- Remember Jonathan Lipnicki, the little kid from that overrated schmaltzfest Jerry Maguire? He's now 21 ... and he works out. (h/t Crawfish Po Boy)
