AfterElton Briefs: Casting "Reichen: The Movie," an "A-List" Finale Preview, Will Ianto be Resurrected, and More!

Force Field! Jesse Tyler Ferguson gets a rubdown from hot neighbor James Marsden in an upcoming episode of Modern Family

  • For our readers in Canada, CBC aired the documentary The Legacy of Brendan Burke last week, which included interviews with his family, discussions about coming-out in pro sports, and insight from Gareth Thomas. (Unfortunately the vid can't be viewed outside of Canada because those Canadians are just plain mean! Oh sure, they act all nice, but we know the truth...). h/t to Campion
  • We're inching ever closer to being able to see Anderson Cooper in our homes every day! Okay, we can actually do that now, but not in daytime!
  • I'm From Driftwood continues their 50-state Story Tour, collecting true GLBT stories from all across America to send a powerful message to youth: You are not alone. Below you can see Kyle McElwain tell his coming-out and bullying story, and you can also read his mother's own account, from her perspective.

  • James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been chosen as the the hosts for this year's Academy Awards. I'm sure Anne will do a great job, and James will ... give us plenty to discuss afterward.
  • Below you can see newsguy Thomas (Hubba Hubba) Roberts and his "It Gets Better" video. He talks about his suicide attempt at age 15, and offers advice for kids on how to get through the bullying. I just wish he hadn't used the words "gathering storm." It automatically made me think of NOM and their "it's raining gays" vid.

  • Steven Moffat was asked point blank if he would ever consider bringing Ianto back from the dead, and here was his terse tweet: "Ianto fans only: Russell's character, and I thought his death scene was brilliant. Not reversing it. Stop asking." So he's saying ... there's a chance?
  • Tonight is the season finale of The A-List: New York, and I'm already missing it. Below you can see a preview in which Reichen sings ... live.

  • Speaking of Reichen, by now you've no doubt heard that plans are allegedly underway for Reichen: The Movie, with "casting directors" eyeing Taylor Lautner for the role. Actually, I have my own casting choices. I think that Reichen's ex Lance Bass should be played by Ricky Martin. And when they film his stint on The Amazing Race, his other ex Chip should be played by gay former Race star Sam McMillen. And who should star as Reichen? Who has the qualities to accurately reflect his personality? My friends, I give you ... this inanimate carbon rod!

  • Finally, Southland returns to TNT on January 4th at 10 PM EST, and below you can see the first (tiny) teaser pic of Officer Cuddlybear and Rookieboy.
